JUNE 10, 2001 THIS
LETTER COMES WITH SPECIAL INFORMATION-----REGARDING the up-coming
July 4th, 2001 celebration, which the La Grange Chamber of Commerce
Sponsors each year. ONCE AGAIN: I have been asked to schedule volunteers to help with the serving of the Noon Chicken BBQ on July 4th. Rather than try to reach each of you by telephone, I am sending out a schedule of workers, hopefully all will accept, some taken from the last years July 4th BBQ Letter, plus some new volunteers have been included. We do not want anyone to feel left out...I feel sure each of you will want to help make this day a better than ever success. WE HAVE MUCH TO BE CELEBRATING THIS YEAR, THE MARK TWAIN CASINO, LLC OPENING IN APPROXIMATELY 6 WEEKS, THE NEW JOBS MADE AVAILABLE TO LA GRANGE CITIZENS AS WELL AS THE SURROUNDING AREA----PLUS THE UPGRADING OF THE DOWN TOWN MAIN STREET AND THE OPENING OF THE NEW PLAZA. (I am only sorry so few knew of the Open House and Dedication) But, we are all very proud of the LRO and their generous time and efforts put forth to see this project to completion. |

You
can drive up and down the streets, both on the hill and down and
see terrific property improvements and new houses, this, I commend
everyone for their efforts and expenses to accomplish these
improvements. There is
still much more to do and I feel sure, working together, we will
succeed. I
am sure you are aware that I retired as EVP of The Farmers
and Merchants Bank of La Grange on May 1, 2000 after (47
years 3 months and 2 weeks). But feel assured that I am still interested in keeping
the Chamber of Commerce a very vital part of the progress of La
Grange. ****There
will be two shifts set up, so no one will have to be away from
family and friends for a long length of time or become too tired.
The Time Slot you find your name under can be switched to
the other most likely. We will be counting on each of you.......
Notice.... If for any reason you cannot serve, please be
responsible" for finding someone to work in your place!!!
There are so many bases to cover, this will help tremendously.
THANK YOU... THANKING
YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IN HELPING OUT, MAKING THIS
JULY 4th a very Special Day.
With many projects still underway, each requiring joint
efforts to continue to make La Grange a City we will always be
proud to call home. We
need to thank Dean Phillips, Ward Sauvage and Bill Grace for seeing
the potential and having the faith and confidence in La Grange to
make this huge investment in our City....Thanks BILL, WARD AND
DEAN.... ATTACHED:
is the Work Schedule set up for the July 4th Celebration. See You There.. (You will notice that many of us will
overlap in duties, as usual, but that just makes it more fun!!! IF
YOUR NAME IS NOT ON THE LIST, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL ME AT
573-655-4739 OR CONTACT ANY OFFICER, WHOSE NAME IS ON THE BOTTOM OF
-THIS LETTER, AND WE WILL BE GLAD TO SEE THAT YOU HAVE A
JOB...REMEMBER--IF WE ALL WORK A LITTLE IT WILL LIGHTEN THE LOAD
FOR EVERYONE. THANKS! - - - Jenny Murphy Reid By now, everyone knows exactly, how many years, months, weeks, days, hours and minutes Jenny worked for the bank and in what capacity.
