Now that the City Council (for some unknown reason) has agreed to pay overtime to both hourly and salaried personnel, the above expenses will increase dramatically over the near term.

The above wages are take home pay. This does reflect, Withholding, Social Security, Medical, unemployment, pension, additional training and other expenses related to these employees.

There are 24 hours in a day and 7 days a week which gives a total of 168 hours a week for 24 hours a day protection.

8 police officers working 8 hours a day or a 40 hour week gives a total of 320 hours of police protection. That is two officers on duty 24 hours a day.

Canton has twice the population, PLUS Canton has 1200 college students that can and have been at times unruly. Canton has 4 officers and does very well. The officers in Canton have no problem working alone, yet every officer in La Grange needs BACKUP.

Based on normal bookkeeping practices, the $250,00.00 per year becomes almost a half a million dollars a year the taxpayers of the City of La Grange are losing to the Casino.

Almost half of the income from the Casino is paid back to protect the Casino and harass the people of La Grange.
