ARE THE CASINO DAYS NUMBERED?
As you go around the area and you watch the news and read the papers, there are times when something comes out. a little here, a little there, and it takes awhile to put it together. Take for instance, on Saturday mornings, real early, a TV station has a round table discussion. These guys talk about the Quincy Community mostly, but, over the past few months, there has been small subtle references to La Grange and the Casino. Then it was discussed on how much Quincy could have been benefited if there was a Casino there. Most of the time, a person just thinks this is small talk and wishful thinking.
The only reason there hasn't been a casino in Quincy is because Quincy has had a Democratic Mayor that didn't want one in Quincy. But now, with the past talking, and, a possibility of a New Mayor and one that is a Republican that is highly progressive and future oriented and is for a casino, it is a possibility that Quincy could have one in the bay. A very good possibility.
If that even comes close to happening, the people of La Grange are in deep trouble. The Mayor and City Council have been spending all the money coming in and have already planned the spending of the future income of the City. There has been no investing for the future by this Mayor and Council, even though I have been harping at them for years to save some back for the future.

Dateline: La Grange, a Sunny Saturday afternoon, people out for a walk, some cleaning their yards and some criminals thinking that they can burn some leaves and brush. Yes, they were all checked out by the LAPD. If you drove around town this afternoon, you would have seen a nice peaceful town with almost no traffic, kids playing in the park, and the Casino running pretty good. It is a nice little town today, fully protected with a cop car running radar on both ends of town to make sure that the children of the town are safe from dangerous speeders.
It is a terrible shame that the Mayor and City Councilmen are so scared to put a stop to the constant harassment of the LAPD of the customers of the Casino day in and day out. Why is the Mayor so scared to do anything to protect the Casino and the people of La Grange and unsuspecting people who make a mistake trying to drive through town.
Jerry
I read the gossip pages once in awhile. I took your rambling with tongue in cheek. That is, until I decided to drive through La Grange to prove you wrong. I am sorry to say that you are 100% right. We, myself and four others were on our way to the casino for two reasons, one to prove you wrong and another to win some money. We didn't make it to the casino, After one of us mentioned the Gossip Page we were instantly afraid we were ALL going to jail, We got out of town as fast as we could and none of us will ever be back. You were right about the police in La Grange.

The La Grange Lions Club fish fry this was very good. The fish was cooked to perfection. On the way, we drove by the LAPD station and saw all the cars parked and thought that someone was really thinking having the police at the station and not out harassing people coming to help with the Lions fundraiser for the community.
BUT, as always, common sense went out the window when we got home. The scanner lit up with two cars out on the prowl and you guess what happened next and next and next and next.

One of my regular readers and also a watcher of La Grange has a scanner and keeps track of police calls. His last email today says that the LAPD in the month of January logged more calls than Quincy. He also notes that 114 is the worst of the lot. He was also wondering why one got the Michael Jackson flu the other day. He noticed the many stops of people taking their children to school the other day.
Another emailer has a friend that has something to do with the 911 center in Monticello and he reports that they are thinking about what to do with the fact that La Grange PD utilizes 90 percent of their resources. It seems that there is some resentment that La Grange thinks that the 911 center is for their use only. Just some talk going around.

Did you get a copy of the city newsletter yet? On the first page from the mayor is a paragraph about the cable vision problem. The Mayor tells in there that you can get a Dish Network system from Capps and other dealers in the area. Now the mayor knows that I have been a satellite dealer for 25 years and sell Dish Network and DirecTV but as always, the mayor and city council and city administrator want to punish me by leaving out my business. It is too bad we have a mayor that doesn't have a set of gonads.
The we get to the liars page. The City Administrator tells the same lie over and over again that the gaming commission demands 7 or more police officers. One Fat ASSED bald lie, told time and time again. I have contacted the Gaming Commission many times about this lie and they say time and time again that they only require an adequate police department. An adequate police department would be 4 police officers and (working) police chief. No dispatchers are needed at all. The City Administrator is using this lie and ploy to make himself look like he is doing something.
The City Administrator then puts in this little threat that your taxes will be raised if the Senate Bill 272 passes, even though the bill is for the reduction of property taxes.
The City Administrator added a little more fear for you by saying your water rates will go up too.
Everything this City Administrator has proposed is based on scaring the people of La Grange. Reducing the police force. Water rates. Sewer Plant. He goes to every council meeting with a WARNING that if the people of La Grange don't spend MORE MONEY, some State agency will come in and do something.
Scare the people. Spend the money. Scare the people. Spend the money. Scare the people.
In the past two years of the Mayor and Council and this City Administrator, there has been no mention or call for SAVING money for future Mayors and Councils. No mention of planning expenditures to be able to SAVE money. Refusing to cut the number of police officers that are not needed to SAVE money. All the do is SPEND THE MONEY, and lie to the people.

Did you read the Tuesday evening Quincy paper? On page 6A was an article on the changing of the Mark Twain Casino to Terrible's Mark Twain Casino. The Mark twain Casino was in business a total of 43 months. During those 43 months, the casino paid to the City of La Grange Missouri a total amount of $5 million, 558 thousand Dollars. $5,558,000.00. Do you know how much the City has left in investments? Do you want to know how small it is? Would you believe that the Mayor and Council have squandered over half the amount taken in for a police force to harass you? Over $2,225,000.00 for police "protection". That does not leave any money to remove your property taxes to help YOU. New police cars every year and giving away good cars to the County. And now the City Administrator is at Jefferson in order to stop your Senator Cauthorn from voting for Senate Bill 272 that will Force the City to allow for property tax deduction. The City Administrator at the last council meeting stated that if the Senate Bill 272 were to pass, he wouldn't be able to afford $650,000.00 or more a year for a police force as he will be forced to reduce your taxes.
Who is the Mayor and Council really for? Are they for their own power or are the for you, the people of La Grange Missouri? If the Mayor and City Council and the City Administrator were for the people of La Grange, they would support Senate Bill 272 that will provide for tax relief of the people of La Grange.
The people of La Grange keep on paying. Contact the people running for election and ask them who they will support, you the people or themselves.

The City Council met last evening and had several items on the agenda. Ed Ensor ( the Public Works Foreman) stated that Brad Davis was complaining about the flowers and staffs and other items on the gravesites and wanted the City to look at an Ordinance to compel the people not to place these items in the Cemeteries. The Council tabled that. Then Penny White asked the Council to approve of her establishing a beer garden behind Grandma's Cupboard and the Council approved.
Ed Ensor ( the Public Works Foreman) stated that he wanted to change the employees around so they will have a job classification. He said the ones with a license should get $1.00 more for each license and if the employee passes his classification test, he can advance to the next grade level. There was a big discussion among the council as to how this would be done, who would evaluate, if a pay raise would come. Then the council tabled it. But, it looks like one employee will get the shaft if this is what they do.
Then, Councilman Lowe brought up that "SOMEONE", he won't say who "sounds like an employee (police maybe?)" wants the City to pass an Ordinance to make people who have any unlicensed vehicle ON YOUR OWN PROPERTY, removed. George Orwell, here we come. There was some discussion and the City Administrator was to look into it.
Next item was the billing by Klingner's Associates and how come they were getting more bills after a set fee was established. After some stuttering about extra work not noted and other problems, they felt that more money was needed.
Next item was the bids for mowing. Tom Dickerson got the bid. Then the decided to put up for bids a utility bed for a truck and a high wheel lawn mower.
Next item was the Cd set aside for a NEW FIRE TRUCK. That was discussed assuming all the council knew what was happening.
Rita Cox wanted all the Council and Mayor and employees to attend Pathways daycare VIP day. I guess this will be the ones who didn't attend the La Grange Community Open House.
Discussions then ran on to the $38,000 chlorinator for the city water. Passing an Ordinance to determine who will be allowed to have alcohol on City property. And, who will make the decision.
The City Administrator wanted to go to Jeff City to try to stop Senate Bill 272 as it will require the City to use Gambling money to help REDUCE your property taxes. It seems some cities are not using the money to benefit the citizens. The City Administrator stated that if this bill passes, they won't be able to use your money to hire this bloated police force. Contact your State Representative and ask them to vote for Senate Bill 272.
The fire department has received their second grant. The City Administrator has yet to get a grant. Henry Gunsauls did the grant on his own time, the City Administrator gets over $35,000 a year. The true amount is hidden from the public.

To start off with, the visitation to Irene Solter was packed. She made a lot of friends.
The Methodist Church had quite a turn out, despite of the roads getting there. As always, the food was excellent. There was a lot of friendly talk. My favorite first grade teacher was there, "Miss Mildred". Who can forget her.
The teen dance at the youth center was attended by young and old alike. There are pictures of the Teen dance and the Open House on the HTTP://www.lagrangecommunityyouthcenter.com. But here is one of the interesting ones.
How is this for the very young and the very old together??

It has been a long time since I have had to deal with an attorney. Now, I am dealing with two attorneys, one to represent me in the false allegation by a rogue cop and one that will institute the suit for the filing of a false complaint and perjury of the complainant and how much it has impacted me and my family and the amount of damages. I call and he isn't in, he calls back while I am out, then we get together. Then the repeat. Faxes and emails makes it somewhat easier though. Being a member of Prepaid Legal Services helps a lot, but the attorney says I will get it all back and then some.

Did you hear the one about the Swat team raid at the Foundry? It seems that one of the LAPDs most finest noticed a door open that has been that way for over a month. Then another most finest found that a gate wasn't all the way closed which has been that way for a long time. The finest quickly assessed the situation and came to the conclusion there was a burglary in progress and all of the finest converged on the building looking for a burglar attempting to steal some of the black sand.
SAY A PRAYER FOR NORMAN AND CAROL BRUMBAUGH.

I get the St. Louis Post Dispatch every morning. As I was going through the paper, I came on the EVERYDAY section which has the TV schedules and cartoons and right out on the Front Page is a picture of Russell Heindselman holding two bird houses. The article wasn't about the bird houses, it was about the State legislatures and passing a bill to have a State Poem. The poem was to be this poem written by a "Hill Billy" from Missouri called "Missouri waitin' for me". A great feather in ole Russell's cap. Good Show ole chap. Here is part of the article and picture. CLICK HERE

I drove by the ball park this evening and noticed that the City has taken over the park and starting to make some improvements. The fence row between the ball park property and the Shirley Derringer property being removed makes it look a lot bigger and nicer.
A couple of years ago, the City Street Superintendent, Kenny Powers, re-sloped and repaved Wyaconda Street from 3rd to 4th street. A property owner on that street ridiculed and complained and carried on about how bad the Street Superintendent did to the street so much that the asphalt was removed and a new street was rebuilt completely. There was no one on earth that was more qualified to repave a street than the property owner.
For the past 14 years that I have lived where I am now, I have maintained Webster Street from 4th to 5th street. It was a narrow rock road with ruts and ditches. I widen the road and rocked it and smoothed it so two cars could pass anywhere on the road. The City never did anything to the street until last year. Last year the new Street Superintendent came by and did to my street exactly what he complained about was done to his street. The asphalt has crushed up and there are more ruts that there have ever been in years. What is more amazing is that a Council lady drives up and down that road 14 times a day and has never - ever said a word about the condition the road is in. It doesn't bother her a bit that her parents have to use that road. Makes one wonder...
Speaking of wondering about things. I wonder who the person is that schedules three cops and a dispatcher to be working on a Tuesday evening. Are the cops too scared to work by themselves? Is there that much money in the budget to warrant that much expense. $1.90 a gallon gas in two or more cars, always running, for hours. There is someone in charge somewhere who really doesn't care how much money that is squandered and thrown away every day. Yet, NOT ONE councilman will say a word about the irresponsible waste of money every day.

If you can take the time, it would be a very nice thing to do if you would take a minute to stop and visit, or even call, Irene Solter. It would be very much appreciated for friends and citizens of La Grange to do this. 655-4541. Please take just a minute.
Jerry
Read about your problem with the dummy. I am from Marion County and we are glad he is there.
Jerry
Doesn't the Mayor know how much trouble this cop is going to get the city in. If I were you I would suit them for all the casino money they will get.
Jerry
I know the jerk you were referring to. He stopped me some time ago and I thought he was scared to death. And that scared me as I thought he might drawn down me if made a false move.
Jerry
Do you need any witnesses? I can get a dozen for you.

The La Grange Lions Club Pancake and Sausage Day was a sell out
As usual, everyone came to the Lions Club Pancake and Sausage day. It started filling up at 7 and they kept on coming. The LAPD wanted me to thank the Lions Club for providing more targets for the radar on the North end of town. They got to make many more stops than usual. These people who come to La Grange to support a civic organization that uses the money to do things for the community need to know that the LAPD wants their cut too.

This winter has been long and dreary. Being in the house all winter has been very boring. I have been looking for something to do to keep me busy, and lo and behold I received a letter in the mail.about a COP that went brain dead. Now, I have something to do. It has been awhile since I have been involved in something like this and now I get to go again. THANK YOU 118.

Say a prayer for Bud Lane. Shirley Irene Lane passed away Monday. And, I don't know if there are many that can remember him but, Delbert Hinkle, who used to live here in La Grange, passed away also. There were several other people in the Quincy paper about people with La Grange addresses, but never heard of them.
Don't forget the Lions Club Pancake and Sausage day. Please go and help.

WOW!
Going out of town around 2pm today and the casino parking lot was nearly full. AT 2PM!. When I came back into town around 6pm. All the parking lots were full. When we went in to eat, the place was full. This is what MRS. 45 years, 6 months, 3 weeks, 2 days, 14 hours, 20 minutes, 16 seconds, could only dream of. These new Casino people know how to run a casino. No doubt about that. Things are looking up.
AND, the LAPD was excited too. So many new targets and only three police cars with radar. The one by the old Imperial was radaring cars coming and going. Couldn't find the other two. They are going to have their hands full from now on trying to stop all those cars going to the casino. Let's see now, they got Wilma's, then the tavern, now Tiemann's is closed. There are only a couple of businesses left for them to run off customers from and close up. Thanks to the Mayor and City Council and the gaming commission.
