Rumor has it that a couple of local businesses are setting up their customers for the LAPD. It seems that the rumor says a worker at Caseys is calling the LAPD and a worker at the Casino is reporting people who have one too many drinks. And then there is the rumor that the Council will be hiring another officer as one is about to take a hike.
Rumor has it that over twenty more employees will be let go at the foundry soon, but, the worse news is that yesterday the story is that the foundry is now officially for sale. It is said that the foundry was offered to the employees for an employee owned business, but it seems the employees don't like the way each other work and don't want to take the chance. Rumor has it that Frese Iron & Metal is looking at it to buy for scrap. With the mayor thinking of nothing but getting to the Casino as fast as he can everyday, has the City of La Grange lose the foundry. A comment heard supposedly by the Mayor is that "well only a few people from La Grange actually work at the foundry, most of the employees live somewhere else". Where was the President of the Chamber of Commerce? Oh, that's right, he doesn't live here, he lives in Canton. Who cares about whether La Grange loses the foundry, he's too busy working on the Easter egg hunt next month.
You wonder how these people live with themselves or in town. Take the group that sold out La Grange in the late 60s by stopping La Grange and Canton Schools combining and forced us into Lewis County. At least a few were ashamed enough they moved. But, the ones in charge of Project Brighter Future, who sold out the City for the final, enjoy living here and enjoyed their Jamaican vacation, and now those who stood by and did nothing to save the foundry will blame someone else.
But, for now, here is a little humor, someone sent me this picture of the Police taking a break. CLICK HERE. And for those who are interested in my pet squirrel, here is a picture of him enjoying himself. CLICK HERE

The LAPD is back on track again this week. 113 makes stop after stop after stop. Rumor has it that a Business in town was notifying the police after the customer left the business, the business even told which direction the car was going. I guess by now, we all know where NOT to do business if you don't want anyone to know what you are doing or where you are going.
It is amazing as to how the minutes of the Council meetings differ from what is printed in the PNJ. It looks like the PNJ in Canton doesn't care about accuracy. The Mayor still doesn't want to do anything to help the businesses in town. He reported to the Council that the City could do nothing about the gas and food sings on the highway. What a Crock. But, Councilman Rossiter is working on other signs for the businesses closer to town.
It is rumored that the Mayor was notified by DNR three times about the water commissioner policies and the Mayor ignored the DNR until the DNT came to the city and warned them in person. 184 voters are now tickled to death with their mayor. I guess the City clerk doesn't want to visit with the post master any more, she asked the Council to be able to put a mail box outside the city hall. And it looks like the City has made the deal to purchase the white elephant building (LRO) to save someone's rear. And the main rumor is that the North Ward Councilman Powers is now the Mayors puppet. Yessah, Mr Mayor. Enjoy, while you can Ronnie, your election is coming up next year. Then you can join "pave my drive free" and "no prayer here" and "Madd".
When is the MAYOR and COUNCIL going to let the voters and taxpayers benefit from the Casino money?????????
February 26, 2002
Rumor has it that a man that frequents the 18 Wheeler and moved to town a year ago has been heard complaining that every night when he goes to bed he feels old age creeping up on him. Another rumor going around town is about a couple of yuppies who blew into town a few years ago and bought a decent home. Since then they tried to force everyone in town to spend a lot of money on their homes to "better the community". Now that they have let the house run down, let the school leave, done who knows what with the LRO, they plan to get out of town and move to Canton, "which has a local school" and no gambling boat. Makes one wonder who is left holding the bag. Kinda fits in with the project Brighter Future bunch. By the way, does anyone know what happened to all that money? Does anyone know "anything" about what the LRO took in or where all that money went?
They come - They take - They go.

Well, people of La Grange, get ready to cover your a--. It is rumored that the dumb a--ed Mayor is about to do it to you again. Rumor has it that the Mayor and his cronies are planning to keep YOU the people out of the new County 911 program. If the Mayor decides to screw everyone in town and not go along with the County's 911 program, YOU will have to dial 573-288-3700 to get an ambulance instead of 911. You will have to dial 655-2233 to report a fire and 573-767-5311 to get the Sheriff's office instead of a simple 911. Plus, if the City went with the County 911 program, the City could save over $60,000 per year with the changing of the dispatchers from La Grange to the County. Plus the savings and security of the City not having the mules program. So, if the Mayor has his way, you will get to PAY twice for less. Those 184 voters have to be tickled to death.
February 22, 2002
Rumor has it there was a drug bust on North 4th Street across from Ed Ensor's house Friday evening. Will find out all the particulars in the morning at coffee.
Rumor has it that there was a big shake up at the foundry yesterday. The rumor is that 8 got their last check. Do you think that maybe now the dumb ass Mayor will do something? Will the City Council sit on their Million Dollars and screw the people of La Grange? 184 voters have to be so proud now. They have to be tickled to death. You have to know that the EX-VP of the F&M is happy as a lark. She spends a lot of time at the casino just like the mayor. Maybe someone can talk the Casino into going into home repair and do roofing at 50 cents on the dollar? There are a couple of insurance agencies left and a convenience store. Maybe the Casino put in a convenience store - gas station and have a room for insurance sales. It will at least tickle the mayor to death and make the VP happy.
Some area residents are sad today, so say a prayer for them. The family of Luella Waterman, the Family of Jack Hartman, the Family of Dora Wolfmeyer and the family of the La Grange City Attorney with the death of his wife Deanna.
It was reported in the news that a 22 month old baby was beaten to death near Kansas City. It was reported that neighbors reported the child's beatings several times before, but the it is rumored that the Division of Family Services and Juvenile Office was too busy with harassing Heartland that they didn't have time to investigate the beatings of this baby. It doesn't make any sense at all. Here Juvenile Officer Mike Waddle has been harassing Heartland for months for alleged spankings of grown teenagers and then the Juvenile Office tell the news media that they didn't have enough evidence of the baby's beatings to do anything.
FEBRUARY 21, 2002
Boy, were the police out in force today. Starting at 6:30 this morning they worked the road hard, all the way to Moorman's old place and back. And all over town you could see two police cars riding around with two officers in each car. Being a police officer in La Grange has just got to be the most boring, do nothing, dead end job in the world. Probably worse than being a Maytag repairman.
I heard a couple of citizens say the City doesn't need a City Manager. The Mayor really agrees with that one. But, if the Mayor says he can handle the job, where are the tax breaks? Why all the latest stupid Ordinances? And why doesn't the Mayor go after all that State and Federal road money that can't be used to build new roads, but can be used to beautify the roads into, around and out of town. Hundreds of thousands of dollars are just waiting to be asked for, yet, the Mayor and Council have no idea what it is, where it is, and how to get it for La Grange. But, the right City manager could get it and a whole lot more.
Why doesn't the Mayor and or the Council get up a citizens advisory committee to help them? Oh, I know, they were elected to the office because they were the smartest people in town and know everything there is to know.

In relation to the last report, here is a run down of a conversation an emailer sent. Office: there is a report of a car in a ditch south of town. Car: Did you notify the County? Office: No. Car: Notify the County. Office: ok. Office to County several times. Office to County: There is reported a car in a ditch south of town. County: It is Sunday nite and no one is on. Office to car: County said no one is on. Car: Did the County say to go out of the City to investigate? Office: no. Car: Ask if they want us to go out. City to County several times. Fire Chief: chief to city several times. Office: 10-6 for cigarette break. Chief to City several times, car to city several times. No answer.
A caller asked me to go to http://www.ewg.org and look around. Very interesting.
How about this email?
Saturday night a call came over the scanner around midnight that a lady was in need of gasoline at the Casino. Of course at 11:00 p.m. the streets roll up in La Grange, last heard was the La Grange P.D. was assisting her. Wouldn't an Express Depot be wonderful! Maybe the Casino should sell gasoline, there are no other options in this town. Wilma's is supposedly suffering due to the Casino, but, don't you have to be open to get business? Every thing can't be blamed on the Casino, at least you can get food there on the weekend. If the City just brakes even on the Casino it will still be worth it to have a place to eat. Wilma's was closed Saturday night and on Saturday morning you could have shot a cannon up town. Saturday mornings you are SOL for food without the Casino. If Gardner's goes down, we will become a suburb of Maywood.
When did the Bird's Nest improve their food? Last time I ate there I had to throw it out. I even requested them not to petrify my chicken livers like they had done the time before, but alas they were once again rocks. The service was terrible and only 4 people in the whole place. I have heard several people wonder when the transformation took place because they thought it was terrible also. Several of these people were Canton residents.
In reference to this email. The rumor I have received is that the Casino is not satisfied with Wilma's being down. They want to kill of Wilma's. The Casino is reported to be putting in their own pizza machine to stop customers from leaving and going to Wilma's.

The Mayor, with his fear of someone complaining to him, still refuses to get out around town. He continually hides at City Hall or the Casino. If the Mayor would get out around town, he would drive by the garbage dump on the South East corner of the River View Cemetery. Old junk cars, trucks, motors and everything else is scattered all over the City street, and on another persons property. If you thought Tascos' was bad, this is worse. I guess the new police department doesn't enforce any City ordinance that doesn't have anything to do with being a highway patrolman. Why mention the words highway patrolman? Well, it seems the LAPD cars have been seen out on the new highway cruising around. They have been seen patrolling Ramsey Jones and the State Park. Pretty soon we will be able to see them back to patrolling Quincy again.
Some people have made rude comments about the LAPD using radar down by the Casino. My take is this, the gaming commission has forced the City to hire all these officers because of the Casino. I believe that they should devote as much time as they can to protect the Casino and stay close by just in case someone wants to rob it. I think they need to station at least one car there 24 hours aday.
I received another email regarding the BFI dumpster in the City street on North 5th. Since the Mayor is scared to go about town to see what is going on, this dumpster is across from Onalee Stephens. The complaint was that every time the school bus gets near there, it has to stop if someone is coming the other way to keep from hitting the dumpster. Several people have complained about the dumpster being in the street, but the Mayor ignores them. Then to make it even a worse scene, the people who have the dumpster in the street, throw all their trash on the ground around the dumpster. Even the Councilman who lives less than a block away drives the other way to avoid the dumpster, like the ex-councilman who also went the other way to avoid it.
It is a sorry time when the fire chief offers several people in town for a FREE meal and let the Boy Scout Soup Supper suffer.
February 16, 2002
Oh!, the rumors. First, there is this rumor that a businessman goes to a local florist and orders red roses. A lot of red roses. When the florist went to deliver the roses, the businessman said he already bought some at County Market. Then came Valentines day. The ad read to join the party. $50.00 for two. Filet - Lobster and wine and roses. After the people showed up they found out about the fine print. Filet? It was not filet mignon. Maybe filet of round. Lobster, there are some crawdads about that size in the river. One rose. One only small glass of wine. OH! if you wanted a potato or salad. Extra! The Bird Nest in Canton was four times the better deal.
Tonight at 5:30 arrived at restaurant. 5:40 seated. 5:50 talked the bus girl into getting us drinks. 6:00 pm, waitress took the order. One tenderloin and one appetizer took a half and hour to fix and 10 minutes to eat. That is with only 16 tables used.
Should have went to the Boy Scouts Soup supper.
Ed Weathers called today. He planned on being home today, but, he has been postponed back to Tuesday.
February 15, 2002
Today is the Lion's Club Fish Fry for the Youth Center. Everyone should try to get there. Tomorrow evening is the Boy Scouts Soup Supper. But, sad to say, the Fire Chief Gregg Heindselman has set up a FREE meal tomorrow night for "SOME" of the past firemen. "SOME" of the past firemen were sent letters to attend the FREE meal. "SOME" of the past firemen were not sent letters. But, one past firemen felt that he would rather support the boy scouts. 184 voters have to be so proud of the Mayor to allow this to happen. It must just tickle them to death.
February 14, 2002
Hope you remembered today was valentines day. As you can see above, the La Grange Community Youth Center is going to have computer classes for the old people. oops, senior citizens. There will only be places for 6 people to a class, so sign up early. The classes will start off with learning what is in the computer and what makes it work. The next part will be in the maintenance of your computer data and how to keep the computers arteries from being plugged up. The other parts will be about getting on the internet. Protecting your privacy on the net. Protecting your money on the net. Finding what you want. Learning how to avoid or find the porno sites. (50 years or older). All about EBAY. How to buy and sell. Web site design and maintenance. And, how to find out what sites your child or spouse has been to behind your back. No Charge. Classes will start at 2pm and quit at nap time or supper, whichever comes first.
COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
NOTICE: THERE WILL NEVER EVER BE ANOTHER CIRCUS in La Grange, Missouri again. According to a new Ordinance #414, it will be against the law of the City of La Grange Missouri to have any wild animal in the City limits. NO EXCEPTIONS, NO MAYBE IF THERE IS A PERMIT. I did notice that they included the word coyote. So if the coyotes come into my yard again as they have in the past, will they arrest them?
Then, they have two ordinances regulating anything that can be used in making meth. My question is where in town is a pharmacy to buy this stuff? And one Ordinance making it illegal to let an animal loose. This Ordinance is confusing and contradictory. Who knows why this Ordinance is being passed.
For over 150 years, whenever the City Council decided to pass an Ordinance, the following procedure was followed. At a Council meeting the City Council would direct the City Attorney to draft the Ordinance. At the next Council meeting, the Ordinance would have its first reading. The Ordinance would then be published in the paper for the citizens to see and give both the citizens and the Council time to respond. At the Second Council meeting, the Council would ask for any objections, additions or corrections and if so, amend the Ordinance and it would be read the second time and printed again for all to see and have time to respond. At the third Council meeting, the Council would ask for any other objections, additions or corrections and then the Ordinance would be read the third time and passed as law after the publication date.
NOW, the Mayor and the City Attorney, in order to hide their agendas, read only the title of an Ordinance 3 times real quick and pass the Ordinance in one meeting and the public be damned.
According to the PNJ, the Mayor had a nice vacation in Jeff City for the new casino laws. One good thing that came out of this Council meeting. They agreed to do something about the mineral well. Let's just hope it isn't another patch job like always. But repairs is the word used. They are getting closer to a City Administrator. And, it looks like our local Clark County Water man is doing his usual to the City of La Grange.
A property owner west of me wants to develop the property and wants to be annexed to the City. For some reason, the Mayor has decided that if the property is annexed, the City has to provide water and sewer to it. HELLO. MAYOR, don't you own property that doesn't have sewer access?? You can't name all the places IN TOWN, that don't have sewer access. BUT, you were the one who wanted to put the Thousands of dollars lift station for the fire and city shed ON TOP OF THE HILL, instead of a block west down at the bottom of the ditch. Which WOULD have provided sewer access out to the ball park and to this property. 184 people have to be so proud of their Mayor, they have to be just tickled to death. But, they could save a lot of money by crossing my property if need be.
One good item is the City is providing the funding to put signs on the new signs on the four lane to just say FOOD and GAS. Every little bit would help the businesses down town. But, it makes one wonder why the Casino didn't go ahead and do it for the City? And come on guys, rent a space for a business to put up their name???
I was surprised to see that Heindselman turned down another way to make money off the City on those sirens. That was a shock. But, then the $1,170 bid to put a couple of lights on the flag poles wasn't a shock.
February 13, 2002
Tomorrow is Valentines Day, don't forget her. Information from a good source says that the Casino did not strip search an employee. Makes you wonder about such things.
Rumor has it that La Grange will soon be audited. One can only hope that this is done before the City hires a City Administrator.
A caller informed me that Ed Weathers survived the quadruple by-pass operation.
Friday evening the Lion's Club is hosting the first fish fry of the year. The money from this fish fry will go to the Youth Center. Everyone needs to go to see if we can run them out of fish. The Youth Center needs the help this year.
February 12, 2002
The Quincy Herald Whig reported today that the City of La Grange has received over $850,000. Has anyone seen any of that money yet? When are the people of La Grange going to be able to benefit from the Casino?? Speaking of the Casino, it looks like they are going after the Bird Nest's business with breakfast buffets Mondays and Tuesdays for $2.99 and Country Buffet for $6.95 on Sundays and then going after the business at Wilma's with the Mexican night on Wednesdays. All they need to do now is sell gas.
Since the Council meeting report will not be until tomorrow night, here are a couple of items of interest. Here is a blueberry cake recipe. Four cups of flour, one cup of sugar, three eggs, half cup melted butter, once cup of milk, one and a half teaspoonful of cream tarter and one teaspoonful of soda. And a fritter recipe, one egg, a cup of thick, sour milk, half teaspoon soda, and one teaspoon salt; stir thick, and dip with a spoon into hot lard.
Below, I put on pictures of the Youth Centers ribbon cutting. I forgot to put this one up of the people waiting to get in the door. CLICK HERE
February 11, 2002
Ed Weathers called today about 10:30 about his heart attack. He was about to undergo a triple, maybe 4 bypasses. Some bits and pieces of the conversation was about the city insurance program. Rumor has it that he was transported to Springfield by Greyhound bus as the hmo didn't cover air or ambulance travel. And then it is rumored that he thinks he is at a veterinarian, he wasn't sure. He thinks he might be home by the weekend if he can catch a ride hitchhiking as the hmo doesn't cover return trips if needed. Please, I think he was joking with us.
Tonight is City Council meeting night. It will be interesting to see if the Mayor and Council go through with their idea of giving you, the people of La Grange, the shaft on the sewer plant. Yesterday, in a fast attempt to get the new about the Youth Center and the ribbon cutting on the web page, I called the State Representative a State Senator. I also forgot to say that the newest, latest, and greatest police officer, and hopefully, the last to be hired, name is Rick Taylor. Now, we will see if he is brave enough to stop in the coffee shop in the morning and visit. NONE, of the other police officers are brave enough to come through the door.
February 10, 2002
The La Grange Community Youth Center held the ribbon cutting today. Attending were two past Mayors, four councilpersons, several La Grange Police Officers and Lewis County Sheriffs Officer and Juvenile officer and a State Senator and a whole lot of the towns people. Betty was surprised with an award from Dennis Williams from Quincy. I took several pictures of some of the people that attended and also pictures of each of the rooms so you can see what a wonderful building this is. CLICK HERE
The City hired a new police officer, actually another one from Madison Missouri. It seems all they can hire is officers from Madison. This guy is a tall one. I am told by a rumor that he will be an excellent officer and not be one of those harassing cops. Rumor has it that his mother keeps a close eye on him to make sure he does good. If he starts screwing up, I am sure that his mother will be there to take care of it.
Rumor has it that employees at the Casino have been strip searched looking for food. Rumor has it that the casino was strip searching employees in order to get them to talk about other employees.
Today, Sunday, in the Quincy Herald Whig, the Mark Twain Casino is advertising a breakfast Buffet every Monday and Tuesday through January 29th for $1.99. You better hurry or you will be too late to take advantage of the great offer.
February 9, 2002
It looks like the street super worked Eddie too hard last week. Friday evening Ed was taken to the hospital by his sister for chest pains. She said that he will transferred to Springfield today for a triple bypass.
We ate at the Bird nest in Canton last evening to try the elk steak dinner. The meat was very very good. I was told that they will have Kangaroo loin and bear later on. Now, we have a place to eat that we won't have to eat the same thing time after time. Rumor has it that since the marks on the Bird nest are going up, the marks on the casino restaurant are going down.
Say a prayer for Ed Weathers.
February 7, 2002
An emailer sent me note about the police and dispatchers. According to the emailer, rumor has it that since the Mayor and Council hire people from somewhere else to "protect" us, they don't know anything about the people, and the town. Rumor has it that the name "Hoteling" is now "hote ling". The name "Deabenderfer" is now "debender". And the street addresses are a lot more fun for them to locate. Yet, the Mayor and Council have still refused to allow the officers to mix with the people they are supposed to be protecting to find out who is who. Until we get a Mayor and Council that will get these officers into businesses and to things like the Youth Center ribbon cutting and such. These officers will continue to view the people of La Grange as their enemy.
Every couple of weeks I contact City Hall and for 25 cents a page, they will copy all of the Council Meetings and Committee meetings and check register for me. If you want to know more about what your Mayor is doing to you, you can get the same information.
For instance you find information where the City is making several hundred dollar payments to a Family Support Center. Makes one wonder what that is all about. You will find out that Klingner & Associates is PUSHING the City to build a new sewer lagoon that will cost you about $30.00 to $40.00 a month more on your sewer bill. Can you imagine what that will do to the Foundry? Put it farther in debt and unprofitable? Close it down?
184 voters in La Grange have to be so proud.
February 6. 2002
An emailer wonders what the utility heating bill is for City Hall. They have taken notice of the many times they pass City Hall, they see a Clerk standing in the doorway holding the door open while smoking a cigarette. Then they notice that the police department employees stand in the door upstairs, holding the door open all the while they smoke their cigarettes. Who cares, it isn't their money they are wasting and throwing away for their little pleasure. We also heard that the Mayor went to Jefferson City to protest the Senate Bill 906 that increases the $2.00 to $4.00 gate fee at the Casino. No one can figure out why the City Clerk had to go along. Let's see now, that will cut the income from $500,000 per week to $490,000 per week.
Rumor has it that it is getting so bad at the Casino that they raised the breakfast buffet from $1.99 to $2.99 and cut it back to two days a week. The losses on those $1.99 breakfast must have been staggering for that to happen.
YOUR MAYOR and City Council are still setting the people of La Grange up for the big screwing. At the January 15th Council Meeting, the Mayor and Council are still refusing to allow YOU to vote on it and will secretly force the ONE MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND dollars the throat of the people of La Grange. It is time to find someone else to run for Councilman in the North and South wards. Those 184 voters have to be tickled to death to get screwed by their Mayor.
Remember the song "Smoke, Smoke, Smoke that cigarette". Change that for the Mayor and City Council. "Spend, Spend, Spend all that money"....
Did anyone find out why the black cop and the lady cop were riding around the State Park?
I had a customer of the Bird nest complain about the cost of eating there. He said it cost him and his wife $120.00 to go to the dinner. Then he said, "Well, $100 of that went to the Casino on the way back"..
February 5, 2002
Did you get your Centurytel phone bill yet? How many of you noticed the $3.00 to $9.00 higher fees. A call to the phone company says that they just raised the price because we were lower than everywhere else.
An observer noticed that the lady cop and the black cop were spending some time at the Wykonda State Park.
I receive emails from all over about things on this site. From genealogy to history to look-ups to comments on this page contents. One of the best of today's emails come from a neighboring town. The emailer wanted to know in so many words if it is the water that makes Mayors go dumb. Or why some police officers think they are above the law and do things they would arrest anyone else for. One of the interesting part of the email was about an officer spraying mace at a dog locked up in a kennel.
So far, NOT ONE Councilman has had the balls to make a motion to refund your taxes to you. NOT ONE Councilman has had the balls to make a motion to stop the franchise fees. NOT ONE Councilman has had the balls to make a motion to end property taxes. NOT ONE Councilman has had the balls to make a motion to end the sales tax. YET, they have gone overboard on SPENDING money like they won the 100 million dollar lottery. Even over the Chiefs objections that spending should be cut back, they are setting the police budget to $500,000.00. That is $500 for every man, woman, and child in La Grange for police protection. It must be the water. $80,000.00 for fire protection?? That adds up to almost $10,000 cost per house fire last year. Has ALL the Councilmen gone completely mad???
February 4, 2002
Things are getting back to normal with the City. An emailer said you can tell it's back to normal as the street super and sidekick were riding in one truck and water super and sidekick were riding in the other truck and the police were doing their usual stops for nothing but harassment. And the usual is at the Casino.
An emailer asked about what happened to the State Audit. I understand that the State does audits as first come first serve basis and La Grange is still on the list. Personally, I hope they wait a little longer, with all that money laying around, it has to stick somewhere.
Another emailer asked why they haven't seen me at the $1.99 buffet. My answer is I am spoiled by the Driftwood. I like my plate warmed up before the biscuits & gravy is put on. They fix it the way I like or any way I want. And, the cost is about the same. The coffee is cheaper and never ends. I can even bring in my own chicken eggs and they will cook them for me the way I want. On Saturdays, I go to the Bird Nest in Canton as they will do the same thing there. I don't know, they are friendlier and do what it takes to take care of you. Sorry, $1.99 is cheap, But?
Speaking of Eating..... and Speaking of the Bird Nest in Canton.... That place is on the ball. Rumor has it that they are planning an exotic wild game feed every month, with different wild game each month. Next Friday & Saturday, they will have ELK STEAKS. Then sometime in March they will have loin of Kangaroo. There ain't any place in Quincy that does stuff like this. We will be there Friday evening about 5:30pm.
PS: to the anonymous emailer..... resend me the info on the Mayor again, I lost it somehow. Also include that info about the dispatcher too...
February 2, 2002
WOW, was the Lions Club pancake and sausage day a success or what?? At about 7:30, there was a small line inside, but about 11am the line went out the door and down the street. As usual, some emailer noticed the police out cruising around all day. One emailer wanted to know how many people donated to the city coffers instead of the Lions Club. But, 184 voters of the Mayor are sure proud he had police protection from all those people wanting to support the Lions club.
As you can see above, on February 10th, the La Grange Community Youth Center will hold its annual open house and fund raiser. But this time it will also include a ribbon cutting to celebrate its opening. If you haven't been able get to any of the other times the center was open, this will be an excellent time to see this really nice building. Without seeing it for yourself, you won't believe how nice this place is.
From the Lions Club pancake and sausage day, the next meal to look forward to is the Boy Scout soup supper. Then the next is 4 weekends of fish suppers.
February 1, 2002
Tomorrow is pancake and sausage day.
I think I already did a dumb and dumber, but it says the same. With the ice storm Wednesday night and all the tree limbs down all over town. The Street Super was busy pushing all the limbs out of the street as fast as he can. THEN, the Mayor calls him in and orders him to get out the chipper-shredder machine and grind up the tree limbs. This massive machine has a huge warning sign on it (Not To Use) in wet or icey conditions. But, orders are orders.
Then while the Street Super is trying to do what the dumb Mayor tells him to do, the police are riding around in their warm heated cars and nice clothes. The police ride around and see a small limb in the street and call City Hall with a 911 emergency and the street super has to shut down the machine and go to wherever the nice cop saw the limb and get out o his truck and move it to the side of the road. And, just about the time he gets back to the chipper-shredder and start to chop up limbs, the cops find another stick in the road and call in another 911. A passer-by saw this actually happen and wondered why the cop just didn't get out of his nice warm heated car and move the small limb himself?? Why not Mayor?
And, while the Street super was trying to put himself in harms way by orders of the Mayor, the Water super and constant passenger are riding around in their nice heated truck hiding from all the work. Yes, I know he called in Canton to help unstop the sewer on main street. that took what? an hour or so? So why didn't the constant passenger get in the street truck with the blade on and push the limbs out of the street that the warm cop wouldn't get out and move? Oh, that's right, I forgot, she got her CDL license and still hasn't learned to drive a stick shift. And the Mayor and city Hall doesn't think we need a City Administrator. The Mayor sure shows everyone that one is needed badly. Why can't the Mayor get out of City Hall or the Casino and see what the City employees are doing? An emailer the other day said that every time she goes into City Hall, the Mayor runs back to his office and hides and she doesn't know why. I emailed back and told her not to take it to heart, rumor has it he hides from everyone, except those he (thinks) are his friends. A couple those who go into the ice cream shoppe in the evenings sometimes tell me everything he says to them. He thinks he is confiding in confidence.
Why doesn't the Chamber of Commerce get together with the City and get two signs put up with the Casino signs on the highway. Yes, I heard the $2250 figure, but it doesn't cost the City that for one that says (GAS) and one that says (FOOD). This needs to be done immediately before the summer traffic gets going. But, I doubt if the person from Canton that is President of the La Grange Chamber will push it as it won't help Canton.
