ONE TERM TIM

After seeing how the Council has decided to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars more than the City is taking in without the Mayor complaining, and, seeing the Mayor out worrying about old retaining wall and foundations, and seeing the Mayor worrying about how long it takes someone other than Ed or Terry to clean up forced demolition of buildings and now today to see two cop cars with two police officers in each car riding around town, one can only surmise that the Mayor only wants to be Mayor one term.

People are wondering why the Mayor is allowing 5th and Route C to be closed for so long? People are wondering why the Mayor is putting a water main down route C. No one can see any reason why. If the Mayor won't stand up for the people, then the only thing that can be said is. One Term Tim.

Now to the Youth Center. There are a lot of unhappy campers that just recently found out that someone from the bank has taken it upon himself and  decided to take part of the youth center property for the scouts. It has come to light that (a) previous before the last one before this one, past president of the youth center has been making decisions regarding the youth center without the knowledge of present officers. And we also find that a couple of present officers are going of on their own. It is getting as bad as the city council.

$4,600,000.00

MECO Engineering appeared before the City Council tonight with a proposal for a new sewer plant. They proposed a $4.6 MILLION dollar plant to replace the working one we have now. And it will only be 30% larger than the one in place now. The new City Administrator has already told me that our water and sewer rates will be raised.

For some reason, Ken Scheutts and not the President of the Chamber of Commerce appeared before the Council to make the proposal the Chamber member voted on the SELL the La Grange Ball Park to the City for $1000.00, WITH the stipulations that the property will always be maintained as a recreational center (not specifically a ball park) and that the city provide $10,000 per year for 5 years of capital improvements. All of the City Council were up in arms about the stipulations. Lannie Heintz said he takes the requirement to provide the money for capital improvements as a DEMAND and he didn't like that. The City has been trying every way it can to take over the ball park, but do not want to have any requirements after they get control. Sam Henderson barked that he was now being prudent with the City's money.

Ken told the Council that the members were in agreement to selling the park and I said NOT ALL members were in agreement. He just wants to get rid of it and out of the Chambers control for some reason and is doing everything he can to make sure the Chamber gets rid of the ball park. The City Council is balking at any strings at all and want to consider even adding rock to the drive or mowing as "improvements".

Ken was also talking about putting a building on the Youth Center property for the Boy Scouts so the City Hall can sell the old power and light building that was given to the Scouts. For someone who doesn't live in La Grange sure is trying to do all he can to sell us out before he retires and leaves. Makes one wonder that if the officers of the Chamber do not want anything to do with the ball park or the Scouts, then why don't they quit.

The Council tabled making up a Moped Ordinance. And then the talk went to the annexation. It looks like all those past the ball park will be spared a fight. It looks like that is as far as the City wants to annex now. And then they talked again about Mary Jane Raleigh's property. The mayor has bent over backwards to accommodate her, but will wait a little longer for her to get the property cleaned up now that the old building is down.

TONY COTTRELL

Tony Cottrell, Treasurer of Concerned citizens of Lewis County places small ads in the Press News Journal. Like moveon.org, and others, he slants and tilts his views to fit the liberal left agenda. The latest is about the President's visit to a factory in Ohio. He states that that plant is shut down and the loss of 1300 jobs. Anyone on the net can search for (president - Canton Ohio) and find several news articles on the matter. ONE. The plant is about to shut down is not the plant the President visited. And TWO. The plant is about to shut down because the Union will not deal with the company. Then Tony Cottrell spits out more fiction. He states that America lost 2.2 million payroll jobs, yet, the economy has grown faster in the last 18 months than any time in history and 1.5 million new jobs have been added. Everyone should thank the "foreigner" George Soros for funding left wing liberalism and trying to throw an American Election. You can't blame Tony Cottrell, though, he gets all his misguided information from moveon.

The La Grange PD would like to thank the Little People's Golf Tournament.

Because of the fact that the only way to get from Quincy the Country Club is through La Grange, The La Grange PD would like to give Quincy a hearty Thank YOU. Earlier this year the Lions Club kept the LAPD entertained by having several fish frys. Then the City had its Appreciation days that presented more targets. And now the Quincy Little People's Golf has been providing some nice new targets for the LAPD to attack. The family from Canada will remember La Grange for many years to come. I am sure they will spread the word all over Canada how well the Homeland Security is working in La Grange. After the Quincy Little Peoples Golf is over, the LAPD will have to take time out to harass the locals until the Chamber of Commerce Chicken BBQ. We can't forget all the little kids whose fireworks will be taken for shooting them too soon.

The Farmers and Merchants Bank of La Grange Missouri has been just that for over 100 years, BUT, it will now be called The Town and Country Bank of Missouri. SO, everyone who has a checking account, please go to the bank and order all new checks please.

What was Aaron Johnson doing last evening?

Did you get your city green sheet yet? Interesting..  Elaine White came within a few votes to losing the election to a person in jail, has decided that a NEW Ordinance needs to be in place to make sure she doesn't lose the next time. She and the rest of the City Council now want an Ordinance to prevent a felon from running against them forever. When I asked a Councilman why??  He says to protect the people of La Grange. You mean to say that you and the other Councilmen do not believe that the people of La Grange are not smart enough to vote correctly?? Yes, that is why we need this Ordinance. I now have to agree with the Councilman, since the people of the South Ward are dumb enough to vote for people like the councilmen they have voted for, we do need a new Ordinance. We need one to say that any person running for City Council has to take a civics test on the history of La Grange. A test on how to pass an Ordinance correctly. A test on how many police officers are actually needed to patrol La Grange and a test on how long a long term investment is. Before, they can sign up to run for Councilman or Mayor.

I want to take this time to thank Council person Rita Farr-Cox, for getting a city employee to do what his is told to do. It seems that the Public Works Foreman couldn't get it done and a Council person had to do it for him.

The new City Administrator is going to look into getting grants for the City water and sewer projects. For $42,500.00 there needs to be a lot of looking. Let's comeback to this page in six months.

Another cop quit and immediately another was hired. We just can't seem to just let one go and save some money. Spend it as fast as you can.

One has to wonder where the Park Committee Chairman Sam Henderson had his head when he had the electricity put in the City Park. We now find that spending all that money to put outlets all over the park, Sam Henderson didn't have the electrician put in any GROUND WIRES. Now just how stupid is that?? Now it is going to cost more money to do it over again.

That is like the City putting a sewer lift station at the TOP of the hill for the fire and city sheds. Now the new factory can't get City sewer without COSTING MORE MONEY..

The Mayor put the email addresses of himself and other city employees, but not any councilperson..

NOTICE: IF you got your Canton paper today, you will notice that your water was shut off this morning. BUT, you will be able to join in the boil order for 48 hours.

The City Council discussed the mistake of sending out registered letters to people about foundations last Monday evening. They also discussed that the bricks that many people paid Susan Dean years ago for will finally be put in place sometime this year. No one would say WHO paid for the bricks. The La Grange Betterment Committee has until June 30th to get their act together to receive the $50,000.00 from the Casino. They may meet to do so and then again they may not meet. EVEN though they could use it to benefit a local manufacturing plant. But, who cares whether there is a company hiring people in La Grange or not. The Council also rolling over the one year CD's on deposit for the LONG TERM INVESTMENTS.

AmerenUE discussed grants for the ball park. Klingner Engineering asked for the final payment on the $75,500.00 road to the mineral well. The Council also talked about the boat docks that no one will bid on. They also discussed the NEW Warning SIRENS. One will be placed near the water tower on North 3rd and the other across the street from Richard Robertson in the Riverview Cemetery.

Then the discussion came to the NEW wiring in the City Park. It seems they forgot about needing 220 volts and also wires for the new flag poles Sam Henderson in putting in the park. So, it looks like they will pay to take out the new wire and put in newer wire.

For some unknown reason, the Mayor and Council seem to think that it will take $30,000 to clean up and fix up the old city hall and REFUSE to allow the Chamber or Scouts or anyone else use the building. IT HAS TO BE DESTROYED. This Mayor will go down in the History of La Grange forever. They also discussed forcing Mary Jane Raleigh to tear down he old house. And they still do not exactly where the chicken BBQ will be.

La Grange lost a citizen and gained one.

I called three people and got three different ways to spell Mrs. Tate's first name. So I used the last one which was wrong. Her name is Osceola Tate and she was 81 years old.

Now, for the good news. Deanna and Jim Reynolds produced a Daughter on June 10th. Looks like Baptists do it well.

June 12, 2004

After receiving a copy of  Ordinance 543 that the Mayor is using against the people of La Grange to harass them like the LAPD, I see that at the bottom of the Ordinance that he signed says that the foundations of the property of the people the city has sent Registered letters out to has a small clause. It says DUE TO THE COMPELLING INTEREST OF THE HEALTH SAFETY PEACE COMFORT AND GENERAL WELFARE OF THE INHABITANTS OF THE CITY OF LA GRANGE, THIS ORDINANCE SHALL HAVE RETROSPECTIVE AND RETROACTIVE OPERATION AND EFFECT.

So instead of the Ordinance just being for the demolition of the building(s) of the homes of people the City has condemned, the Mayor has spit on ALL the people of La Grange who may have an old foundation or wall.

The BIG questions that come to mind is WHY???  WHY did the Mayor go after the Casino and cost the Casino Thousands of dollars over that old carwash foundation that wasn't hurting anyone. ESPECIALLY, after all the Casino did for HIS Appreciation days??

AND another big WHY?? Why didn't he sign and send the letter to BOB RICHTER that is laying on his desk?? How can he just pick and choose who he wants to make miserable and cost money??

MAYOR TIM. You should not have taken a paragraph out of context of an Ordinance relating to buildings the City Condemns and used it against the people of La Grange.

MAYOR TIM. Here is another tip. You had better take care of the employers of La Grange or you are going to lose the employers. They will close up and leave, and all the work of you saying you want to benefit the town will be for naught.

Now, for the big chase the other day. The police started to stop a car for just questioning. One of the let's stop them and see what they are doing and who they are type, BUT, the car took off and left them in the dust. Fortunately, the MO highway patrol helped catch the runners. It seems it was a local boy who lives on the South end of town.

SAY A PRAYER FOR THE OCELLA TATE FAMILY

June 11, 2004

IT NEVER QUITS - THE CITY COUNCIL CONTINUES TO SCREW OVER THE PEOPLE OF LA GRANGE MONTHLY.
Each and every month they come up with a new way.

Last month the Council used a little known Ordinance to go after people who were late on their Personal Property taxes. Instead of being honest and above board and sending out notices like legitimate Cities, this City Council hides in the bushes like snakes in the grass. The waited until these taxes were past due and then sent out the LAPD to ARREST the people for not paying their personal property taxes. A $14.00 fine for one persons tax due of 92 cents.

WELL GUESS WHAT FOLKS?
THE CITY COUNCIL IS OUT SCREWING OVER THE PEOPLE AGAIN.

Today, we find that the Council passed an Ordinance among 13 other Ordinances at one time by reading the titles only that was passed off to deal with the demolition of old buildings. BUT, the sneaky snakes added a clause that deals with "foundations". This innocent clause was thought to mean that those who got the contracts to tear down old buildings had to do something with the old foundations too.

BUT NOOOOOOO...... This City Council is out to use it against other people in town and harass them too.

Letters were sent to several unsuspecting people who had an old retaining wall or old building that they tore down years ago with only a foundation and or a wall left. Take the old round house on South 7th street. Or how about the old wall holding back second street behind the tavern? How about those old walls on North second street up behind the Solter's place and others around town. The Council took one clause meant for a complete Ordinance and now going around town and making life miserable for a whole lot of people.

Whereas, the Ordinance wasn't even passed correctly to begin with, it would seem that anyone who got a letter of threat can easily beat it in Court. BUT, that is not the  problem, the problem is with this City Council they seem to want to work in the dark and shadows and hide a sneak around like thieves in the night and see how much misery they can put on the people of La Grange.  Now, who did vote for Elaine White, and Lannie Hentze. Who didn't vote for Jerry Brandt to be Mayor? Look what you get now..

 # 1 I never said the officers could not help Bob I simply said we need to check on liability.  When I was in the Home Care business we could not touch or help anybody because of the chance of being sued if we hurt them or dropped them. I think it is great they help him but it is also my job to protect the City. When I found out about the good Samaritan act we were protected I had already forgot the issue . So let Nancy know the next time she wants to cry or get attention come to me and find out the truth

It seems the previous emailer did not tell the whole story. And it looks like the Mayor already took care of the problem before the previous email was even sent out. A sorry goes out to the Mayor..

EMAIL

JERRY,
WHAT KIND OF TOWN DO WE LIVE IN? I WAS RAISED THAT IF SOMEONE NEEDED HELP WE HELPED THEM. WELL I HEARD THAT OUR MAYOR HAS TOLD THE POLICE OFFICERS THAT THEY COULD NO LONGER HELP A FRIEND OF MINE THAT IS IN A WHEEL CHAIR. WHAT KIND OF MAYOR DO WE HAVE? THE OFFICERS GO AND HELP THIS MAN OUT OF HIS WHEEL CHAIR INTO BED SO THAT HE DOESN'T HAVE TO SLEEP IN THE WHEEL CHAIR ALL NIGHT. NOW, THE MAYOR SAYS HE DOESN'T WANT THEM TO DO THAT. WELL WHAT IF THIS WAS HIS MOTHER OR ONE OF HIS FAMILY MEMBERS? I AM SURE HE WOULD BE THE FIRST ONE TO CALL THE POLICE TO HELP. THIS UPSETS ME VERY MUCH TO HEAR THAT WE PAY TAXES AND THAT THE OFFICERS CAN'T EVEN HELP SOMEONE TO BED. COME ON! THIS IS CRAZY. SOMEONE NEEDS TO LET THE MAYOR KNOW THAT THERE ARE STILL GOOD PEOPLE OUT THERE AND WE STILL LIKE TO HELP OTHERS EVEN IF WE DON'T GET PAID TO DO IT. I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE THAT HE WOULD TAKE THIS HELP AWAY FROM OLD PEOPLE AND MAKE THEM PAY A LOT OF MONEY JUST TO GO TO BED. I SOMETIMES WONDER WHY I MOVED HERE. I USE TO THINK THAT I WANTED TO RAISE MY CHILDREN IN THIS TOWN AND  HOPE THAT THEY WOULD HAVE A SMALL TOWN THAT THEY COULD BE PROUD OF. BUT I AM BEGINNING TO WONDER WHY WE EVEN STAY HERE. PEOPLE ARE BUSY BODIES AND CAN'T MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS. AND THEY WANT EVERYONE TO GET INVOLVED IN THE COMMUNITY. BUT THEY DON'T WANT TO HELP SOMEONE IN NEED. WELL AS FAR AS I AM CONCERN THE MAYOR CAN TAKE A JUMP OFF THE HILLSIDE HE LIVES ON, CAUSE OUR OFFICERS DO A VERY GOOD JOB AROUND TOWN. AND I THANK THEM FOR HELPING THIS OLD GUY. CAUSE I CAN'T DO IT MYSELF. I HAVE TRIED DOING IT AND DROPPED HIM. THE OFFICERS ARE STRONGER AND ABLE TO LIFT HIM OUT WITH NO TROUBLE. AND I JUST WANT TO THANK THEM  VERY MUCH FOR THEIR HELP WITH THIS PERSON. WITHOUT THEM I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO HELP HIM. AND HE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET THE REST HE NEEDS. THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS. AND I HOPE THE MAYOR READS IT AND WAKES UP TO THE FACT WHAT HELP THE OFFICERS ARE TO US.

Jerry

Is it really true that the City has police officers who don't live in town or even the County or even the State and they still work here? How can that be. Everyone else has to live in town and be a part of the community, why don't the police officers? I think they should either move to town, get a Missouri Drivers license and Missouri License plates and a City Sticker like all of us have to do or QUIT. RESIGN. If they can't live by the rules, then they can just leave.

June 8, 2004

Whenever there isn't a whole lot of things going on around town, I don't do any updates. After a couple of days I get a couple of emails and by now some are pissed. So, even though there isn't a lot going on still, here is what has happened. President Reagan died Saturday afternoon, and, at 8pm Saturday night the LAPD was questioning each other whether to lower the Flag to half mast. DUH!. Once this intelligent decision was made, they did one flag. The others stayed at full mast.

A person contacted me and was complaining about getting a ticket for having out of state license plates. I said so, you need to get them changed to Missouri tags. BUT, says the complainer, half the LAPD has out of state license plates. Why don't they have to do the same. ASK YOUR COUNCILMAN>

The river came up to the top of the railroad tracks and now is on the way down.

The guy who  bought the Foundry in March at the bankruptcy auction, sold it yesterday on EBAY for over a half a million. But, the work putting the foundry back together is still going on.

I found some memorabilia or a little bit of history items in the foundry. Plaques that have a lot of the old timers names on them and a bowling trophy. I cleaned them up and donated them to City Hall for history items. You might go look and see if your name is in history of La Grange.

It is getting closer to the 4th of July and so far, no one has said exactly where it will be, if there will be a chicken BBQ.

Say a Prayer for the ODIE BROWN family

**Please remember Isaac Zajac and pray for him and his family tonight.**

I didn't get there, but the reports I have is that there were pigs chasing cows in La Grange today and some say it was hilarious.

The Public Works Director is now doing some real work on the City Streets today. They were on North 4th street cleaning the ditches to get the rain and snow off the streets. This is something that needs to be done all over town this year, even if they don't get as many streets paved as wanted.

The great news for today is...... Heartland is suing Mike Waddle for attorney fees. Over $900,000.00 and they are also suing Sheriff Parrish for attorney fees for the amount of over $96,000.00. Now, how much is it going to cost us to hire lawyers to defend them for their unlawful actions? You know, they will want the best lawyers to cost the people the most money and lose that too. Maybe Judge Normile and Judge Steel will join together and fund Mike Waddle or even leave the bench and be his lawyer.
