Richard Holder, 69, died Friday am. Lester W. Vaughn, 54, died Saturday at home. I met a couple of old foundry workers and they both said the same thing. The foundry took another. Citizens of La Grange die younger and almost all were from some sort of cancer and most all involved the lungs. Any other place there would be class action suits. But, the people of La Grange suffer and die. Even citizens who never worked at the foundry, but lived within a few blocks of it, have become victims.
Richard Holder Visitation on Thursday, from 10am until services at 11am at the First Baptist Church. Burial at Greenmount Cemetery.
Lester Vaughn - Gravesite services only at 10am Monday in East Midway Cemetery near La Grange
Rumor has it that Mayor Theresa Gunsauls wants the city to buy ANOTHER NEW FIRE TRUCK for her Husband. When will all this become a conflict of interest? The rumor of a Council woman gets the City to pay the insurance on her building and it doesn't raise a red flag with ANY other councilman or Mayor. The rumor of a Council woman taking over the concession stand without any bids, and it doesn't raise an ethics violation with the Mayor and ANY councilman. I guess when you got your hand in the cookie jar, you can't complain about her hand in there too. The corruption in City hall never quits.
How about inconsistency? I take care of another persons property here in town. The City sent me a past due notice of back taxes on the property. Included was an outrageous bill for mowing. Ten times more than the present costs today. On behalf of the property owner I sent a check for the taxes and back taxes and disputed the mowing bill. The City sent the check back stating they couldn't take a "partial" payment on the tax bill. Included in this letter was a statement that the previous renter made a "partial" payment on the bill. Stupid isn't it?

I attended Alma (Painter) Borgstadt's funeral today and like every other funeral I attended I saw that there was not one police officer around. Unlike the present Mayor, hen I was Mayor, I had a police car in front of every funeral procession and when we got to the cemetery, he actually got out of the car and directed traffic and waited until the funeral was over and helped people leave. For some reason Mayor Theresa Gunsauls thinks she still lives in New Jersey where no one cares.
There was a whole lot of people at the Youth Center today for the school supply giveaway. And there was a houseful of people at the Methodist Church for the family meal of Almas.
The Green Chapel Church was having a fish fry today too. I had to stop and get some carp. They had steaked carp and carp slabs which I grew up on and catfish. Plus all the trimmings.
According to the Mayor, it seems the cops are there to protect her and to do traffic stops only. To have the police department benefit the community is a no no. No wonder the rumor is now that she will not run again.

Alma Painter Borgstadt passed away today
On August 14, 2006 the City Council will hold a hearing on a tavern in a residential area. Somehow, I missed where we had any zoning in La Grange. They will also discuss closing 2nd street from Monroe to Jackson. They will also have a public hearing on the city tax rate. According to the Canton paper it looks like the tax rate will be the same. Then I see in the city newsletter where they voted to cut 25%. Which will it be? A lie or a lie.
There will be a BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLY STORE at the Youth Center July 29th 11am to 2pm with FREE supplies.

Every La Grange City Council meeting is the same as the one before. All they do is talk about is "How can we screw the people of La Grange today"? The City employees are the same. "How little can I do today"? The Police attitude is "How many can I stop today and harass"? You can look back at all the council meetings for the past 5 years and you will see nothing that suggests, "What can we do to improve the lives of the people of La Grange"?
Take for instance, in the last few weeks the City and the police did everything under the sun to run a business out of town and they finally succeeded it. Another business went up for sale because of the costs of doing business in La Grange. The Mayor and City Council has only four more businesses to run out of town and one of those is thinking about moving out of town.
Ken Scheutz, President of the La Grange Betterment Committee. His idea of "betterment" Is being President of the Chamber of Commerce and selling it all out to the City. Another great idea of "betterment" is keeping the $45,000.00 of the Betterment Committee money in Dean Phillips bank, FOREVER.
I asked him one day about putting up informational signs on the highway like this..

And you know what I was told? IT COSTS TOO MUCH. You dummy, it is $2400 for each of those. $12,000.00. That is a total waste of money. Ken has to keep the $45,000 in Dean's bank for him to use. Well, maybe it is. Let's just do FOOD and GAS this year. Still too much money.
SO, there are no signs on the highway to let people know what is here and provide an incentive for them to drive through La Grange. IF, Ken Scheutz ever decides to spend some of Dean Phillips "Betterment" money that was given to PROMOTE La Grange, it will provide another problem. How will we get the MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL to stop the COPS from arresting everyone that passes through. 114 is one police brigade of his own. Every fifteen minutes he has someone stopped for something. But, the Mayor THERESA GUNSAULS and the City Council do not care one bit as they are doing the same thing at each council meeting.
THE CASINO, the people who own the Casino are takers. They never give anything back to the community. Other casinos in other places do a whole lot for their community. Terrible's Mark Twain Casino does nothing for the people or the town except take the money to Nevada.
The Casino should take over all the expenses of the La Grange Community Youth Center and provide workers to keep it open all day, every day, like DOT Foods does for their community. In FACT, the Casino should build a new building next to the existing one and put in an indoor swimming pool and DONATE it to the Youth Center and provide workers for it.
That would only account for 1/10th of 1 percent of the casino's income. Anyone in town would donate twice that much. But, not Terrible's Mark Twain Casino. But, the Casino wants to take all the money FROM La Grange. AND, Mayor Theresa Gunsauls and the City Council could care less. Screw the people.

I am really sorry to hear about the vandalism at the La Grange
Community Youth Center. It has been a long time since anything like this
has happened in La Grange. The center is the only place in La Grange for the
youth to hang out. It is furnished with items donated and purchased over
the years for their enjoyment by the community and the surrounding area.
It became a 501(c)3 non profit organization. New building was built and
many, many hours of hard work contribute to this organization for the youth.
It became a adult supervised center, offering many activities, including
tutoring, after school activities of various topics, drug awareness programs
with speakers coming from hospitals in Kirksville and Quincy. Ala-teen was
a big part of the center for some time. Many special speakers have visited the
center and spoken to the youth. Our State Senator, State Representative,
Sheriff, MADD Organization, and also those special people that worked to help
prevent gang activities from Quincy and Hannibal to come to La Grange.
Some of the local churches had special activities. There are so many more
topics that have been shared at the center. The center has a basketball court, a
game room, a TV room to watch movies, a computer room and study area furnished
with all the supplies. Teen dances and Saturday Night Fever activities were held
on the weekends. Teens have come to the center from all over the area. A
bus of Brashear teens came one Saturday night. The center is a alternative to
the streets for the youth. They also learn about life and how to become a
responsible adult. Respect is the first word that is learned to newcomers.
One of the saying we used was, "Life" is a gift from God, what we do
with it is our gift back to him."
The La Grange Community Youth Center has given so much to the youth. Even
when they did get into trouble, we were there to go to juvenile court with them
and help them to do community service. Not only teens did community
service, but many adults over the years have also. The Youth Center has
been the center of the youth for many years. Of many families in the area.
Working together to make a better tomorrow was a action plan not just a phase.
Everyone was proud to say they were a part of the La Grange Community Youth
Center. It always was and still is one of the best accomplishments that
was made in La Grange. What so many others tried to do, and failed; was
successful in La Grange. You really have something to be proud of and to
support.
Support the La Grange Community Youth Center.

I knew it. You can't be too careful dealing with anyone with the LAPD, from the Chief down. You always need to have someone on your side to back you up. Rumor has it that the LAPD tried their damnedest to figure out a way to implicate me in the vandalism of the Youth Center. The newbie was in on the whole thing. One of the cops was rumored to say that "maybe" he saw me out that night to be able to fabricate another false arrest. They just don't quit. Remember this, I called Monday and requested the Chief send up someone to take fingerprints and he refused to do it. Makes you wonder what the Mayor has in all this.

La Grange Cops. It is always fun to watch them in action. For instance, early this morning a tractor trailer over turned on the 4 lane between La Grange and Canton, so the North Bound traffic was diverted through La Grange. The highway department had to hire some to come to La Grange and be at the stop light to help direct traffic through town. I stopped and asked the State guy why the LAPD wasn't doing this and said he was told to come early this morning to direct traffic.
(8) Cops.
A coffee drinker was joking that with all this traffic coming through town is was like the movie 18 wheeler. All the cops chasing trucks all over town trying to give out tickets as fast as they can. And the rest of the jokes we have all heard about the LAPD.

Sometimes you wonder why? For what reason? What good will this do?
Several years ago Missouri Highway Patrolman Charlie Jones came to the door of my house. He was investigating a couple of boys on the South end of town. He kept wanting to come into the house to talk. Just step inside the door. Sometimes you wonder why? For what reason? What good will this do? But, he was a "Missouri Highway Patrolman" you do trust the Missouri Highway patrol don't you?? He was let "just inside the door". From that point, because I let him "just inside my door", my home was searched for weapons, drugs, pornographic material, anything and everything that could be considered illegal and they found none. And because I let him "just inside my door" I ended up fighting the Juvenile Officer Mike Waddle for three years and we went to Court 27 times in 4 different Counties, in 2 States and the Missouri Appellate Court, plus we went through four judges and five prosecuting attorneys before we won. And I didn't have any attorney to represent me. Now, yesterday, for the benefit of the Youth Center, I slipped.
Sometimes you wonder why? For what reason? What good will this do? A La Grange Police Officer came to my home to talk about the break in at the Youth Center. It was broke into sometime early Monday morning. This is now 4 days later. And four days after I called the police to come up to the Youth Center and take finger prints while I was fixing the broken window and they didn't show. The Police Officer asked to come into my home to take my statement?? I slipped, and for the Youth Center allowed him into my home. He just wanted me and my wife to write down our recollections for Sunday and Monday. Sometimes you wonder why? For what reason? What good will this do? We didn't see it happen and I was called "after" the President and the police had been there. But, it was for the Youth Center. So we wrote what we knew, which sometimes you wonder why? For what reason? What good will this do? She was there Sunday afternoon after our family reunion to get her stuff and I wasn't there until hours after the President and Police were there. Sometimes you wonder why? For what reason? What good will this do? But, after writing that down, he needed my birth date, age, and then wanted my height, weight, color of eyes, color of hair. Now, the red flags came up, and now you wonder why? For what reason? What good will this do? The officer said it was "just for his records". Remember above, "just inside the door". Now, how long will it be before I will regret this action? How much will it cost me? How long will it take? Sometimes you wonder why? For what reason? What good will this do? I broke my own rule that I warn everyone NOT TO DO and that is to never, ever let any officer of the law into your home. Always go out side to talk. It will invariably lead to problems later on. I know there was a reason for the Officer wanting in my home and wanting personal information and I don't think it was in the best interest of the Youth Center, so I detailed this to an attorney, just in case.

The City newsletter came out this week. The City Administrator had his letter to the people and Mayor Theresa copied it and changed it for her letter to the people. The blind leading the blind. It looks like the City Attorney is attempting to defend a council woman's problem with the State ethics commission. Was it because the City is paying the insurance on her building? Or was it her taking over the ball park concession stand without anyone knowing, well at least for awhile. Maybe it was about the Mayor using City property for her own private use jeopardizing your fire protection. You will never know there little secrets.
Praise should be given to the Dickerson Lawn crew for the good job at the foundry mowing. It was not as good as when I took care of the foundry, but it is better than the weeds and trees we have seen all summer.
Years ago, Pete Brandt was told by the City that the city limits ended at the rail road track. Now the city can't stop working passed the railroad track. Thousands and thousands of dollars and man hours are devoted to the river area.
Today, I see "do nothing" on the green tractor running up the road with the mower up. I watched as he went by the foundry. When I came back up the street, I couldn't any where he dropped the mower to mow anything. he just disappeared. This makes one wonder where the City Public Works Commissioner is and why he can't get his charges to work.
In the newsletter, the City Administrator for the umpteenth time brought about the "antique" street lighting from the town to the casino.
The City is after Roberts again. The spent years harassing Hartley Tasco until they ran him out of town. Now they are starting on another Business. Since when is a car lot legally selling cars, now considered a junk yard??
It looks like in the Police Department logs that the police acknowledge harassing 653 people.

For the first time some little thief's threw a piece of asphalt through the East window of the La Grange Community Youth Center. After entering the center, they went to the cash register and stole the money in it. Then they just unlocked the East door and walked out. Then they went to the City park and did more vandalism. The Board members of the Youth Center has offered a substantial award for the arrest and conviction of the thief's.

July 13, 2006
This morning we were discussing the article in the Canton Paper where the City Administrator said the remaining money for the new sewer plant would come from "casino money". My statement was that if the money was coming from casino money, the why did my sewer rate triple?? I then went on to say that the past owners of the casino did donate $500.00 to the Youth Center but the new owners haven't donated a dime anywhere. As far as I was concerned the casino is useless. BUT, an employee jumped to the defense of the casino. Look at the new fire truck, the new buildings, the new equipment, the new streets. That all came from "casino money". He did not realize that the money for those buildings and equipment and all came from the State of Missouri that by LAW, the casino had to pay. If it were not for the State Law, La Grange wouldn't get a dime. But, on that matter, the Mayor bought her husband a new fire truck that wasn't needed. The new streets amounted to 6 city blocks over 5 years.
The employee of the casino didn't know that even though it was the people of La Grange who voted for a gambling boat and got a pontoon boat in a swimming pool, gave back to the casino $250,000 a year for ten years and $50,000 a year for ten years. Thanks to a dumb Mayor and Council. The casino employee didn't remember "pave my drive free Martin" and "no prayer here Weweil".
Yes, the casino has done well for La Grange. Almost every business has closed up, others are struggling, one is for sale, and everyone is afraid to drive around for fear one of the cops "protecting the casino" will stop and harass them. The Casino has done well for La Grange. If it does any better, La Grange will be a ghost town.

While driving down Broadway in Quincy, my radar detector started going off. It never does that. So it kept getting louder and then I looked up and saw a La Grange Police car coming down Broadway running his radar.
Today I watched several city crew men reading A water meter. Kenny Powers used to do it "All By Himself". now it takes half the crew to read a meter.
Have you seen College Street from 3rd to 5th. I haven't seen such a terrible paving job since the last time they paved a street. Mayor Theresa is proud of them though. Speaking of the Mayor, there is a rumor going around that she is sleeping with the fire chief. Just a rumor. Did you notice on 4th street that city mower only made on pass and left more than he cut, BUT, he did an excellent mowing job on the foundry dump.
I heard this on the news the other night and now, today, I read it in the Canton Press News Journal. The last paragraph on the front page. Mayor Theresa Gunsauls and Mark Campbell the City Administrator. The City received a Community Development Block Grant of $700,000.00. The U.S.D.A. issued a loan of $619,000.00.
HERE IS THE KICKER. Both times, they state, Quote "The balance will be paid by revenue from the Casino".
Then why did everyone's sewer bills triple? Are the PEOPLE paying or the Casino Paying? I wonder if Rita FARR-Cox has broken it to her dad that she has screwed him over royally. I wonder if she has told him he will have to spend lots of money to run a sewer line down the hill to the City sewer or pay a $100.00 a day fine.
Ed Heller was named to the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association, Hall of Fame in Springfield Missouri.
The Casino stopped the 2 for 1 breakfast and dinner Buffet. I guess too many people from town took advantage of it.
Now that the 4th of July fireworks is now over and there wasn't any accidents down by the river, the Mayor placed a thank you in the paper.

Randy Hicks passed away today
Today, I was in Quincy going out Broadway. My radar detector started going off. I kept watching for the police car and Lo and Behold, there coming down Broadway is a La Grange Police car running radar in Quincy, Il.
I was at the Casino a little before 8am and noticed (do nothing) in the City Green tractor mowing across the street. I was leaving town a little before noon and saw (do nothing) leaving the area. It took him 4 hours to mow that little bit of area across from the casino and it still wasn't all mowed. Of course he probably did more then than the City Administrator has done all month.
July 5, 2006
The kids should know that the no shooting fireworks ban is only in the City of La Grange. South of the Casino past the level is out of town and the cops can't stop you there.
Does anyone know Bob Freiden? He was at the casino this morning.
Well, the fireworks at the riverfront went off very well. There were lots and lots of people there. After the show was over there was a lot of clapping and cheering. While everyone was enjoying the fireworks, the Mayor was making sure her children didn't get over heated these past few days.

The Mayor had her husband fire chief remove the portable water tank from the fire station and use the fire truck to fill it up so "her children" could have a swimming pool of their own. It has been there for several days now. The people have to give thanks that there wasn't a big fire anywhere as the water tank was/is already in use. But, Mayor Theresa Gunsauls and husband fire chief don't really seem to care about anyone but themselves. This is a remembrance of the "pave my drive free" deal. And the "let's use the donations to save our school for a Cancun vacation" deal. just another one of the "Screw the people of La Grange deals".
The "do nothing" employee of the City crew was busy hiding behind the foundry mowing for the 6th time in a week back there. For forty years, no one cared about the old dump and now it is the primary place to mow. Now, he won't mow the sides of the road going out to the Wyaconda bridge as he will interfere with the mustached cop running radar to harass the people. He refuses to go around to 4th street as the City weeds are as high as any car. Or will he go around to any other street in town, but he will mow the property behind the post office FOR THE ELECTRIC COMPANY. Will he mow your property, ha ha ha.
As you go around town you see the workers at Casey's stringing concrete chunks up and around route C, but the mustached cop is busy trying to get a speeder. While he is hiding on the North end of town, he conveniently misses the fire chief running around in his pickup with a bunch of kids in the back. he can do it, you can't. His wife is MAYOR.
I sure hope the Casino doesn't need anything else, it is getting hard to pay the Casino's bills.
Maybe the Casino can do like the Lion's club and Charlie to get them a GRANT, like the Lions did.

Happy JULY 4th
The Chamber of Commerce had a breakfast at the Lions Hall. It was very good food and service. There wasn't many people there though. There was a Cop car running up and down main street all the time I was in there and after I left.
I wasn't too sure where the chicken Bar-b-que was being held and who was doing it. At about 1:30, I went to town and there was a Cop car running radar in case someone was hurrying to get the chicken bar-b-que. I stopped at Penny's and a Cop car was going up and down main street. I go out to the fire station to get some chicken and I see a Cop car go out of town and when I came out, the cop car was coming back in town. The Mayor was at the fire station and needed the police protection. She didn't need to worry about any customers, there wasn't that many there. I really do not think very many people knew about the breakfast and bar-b-que.
The rumors at the breakfast was that the City pissed off the people who were authorized to shoot off the fireworks and there wasn't going to be any. But, I ran into a person who was authorized and even though the City wasn't going to back him and not provide other stuff needed, he wasn't going to let the PEOPLE down. Many thanks to him.
Well, the rumors on Rita FARR-Cox goes like this. The first rumor has it that she was stopped for speeding, they say she didn't have any insurance and kids loose in the car with no seat belts. It goes on that she got a ticket and then tried to get the police chief fired as he supposedly would not FIX the tickets. Another rumor was that she only got warning tickets. But, the real story- oops rumor is that she got the tickets, raised holy hell and threw her council woman weight around and got the tickets FIXED. Let's see you get away with that...
When I mentioned all the cop cars around town, another citizen says they go all out when there is a fund raiser and the people try to get customers to come to town. AMEN.
July 2, 2006
TNT Action Sports sponsored a "Cajun Bike Night in the District" Saturday evening. The members of the La Grange Community Youth Center volunteered to help them. I am here to tell you that this was a great idea and it went off without a hitch. There were hundreds of bikers coming and going. Great Cajun Music and food. Jim Ulm of Signs in Times needs to be congratulated as well as others I don't know.
All the while we were there I was thinking that something like this could never be pulled off in La Grange. But, it would be a great way for a fundraiser for the Youth Center. The reason why it could never be successful in La Grange is that while this was held downtown on main street in Quincy Illinois, I did not see one Police car come anywhere near the event. A couple of guys from the Fire department stopped by to look at the bikes, but that was it.
We all know what would happen if we tried to pull something like this off in La Grange, DON'T WE? Look at what happened to the boat racers last year.
June 28, 2006
Again, in the Press News Journal, (For The Record) pages. is the printing of the NEW sewer Ordinance. After reading through it again, I see more screw you parts. First off, there is the part where, if your "Property Line", not your house, is within 100 feet of a sewer line, you are required under penalty of law to hookup to the sewer. So, the first Screw You is for Robert Farr, Daughter Rita has screwed old Bob over. The sewer line is within and through his property. The Second screw you goes to Dumb Steve Griesbaum. He let Mayor Theresa Gunsauls screw him over by skipping out of town and letting the Mayor Pro-Tem Steve Sign the Ordinance.
Another Screw You, goes to Mrs. Bernard Musholt. And another Screw You goes Margarette (Ted) Sturhaun. Another to Mrs Pete Harsell. Mayor Theresa Gunsauls and the City Council Say to you, SCREW YOU. We put in that new sewer line and now you have to PAY AND PAY AND PAY.
Section 4. Of the new sewer Ordinance. (Condensed) but says this. Any property owner that is near anywhere there is NOW a sewer line (OR WHERE A PROPOSED NEW SEWER LINE) in the future may be located, the property owner AT HIS EXPENSE is hereby required to connect to the existing or future sewer line within 90 days or be fined. Now the way it reads, even if there isn't a sewer line there, the property still has to hook up to it.???
The next Ordinance sets the sewer rates. The Mayor and Council says they CAN NOT charge the casino more than you or I will be charged. You know, that honor thing.
BUT...
The casino gets their water a whole lot CHEAPER than you and I pay. The water rates are set so that the more you use, the cheaper it gets, down to a 50% reduction. So again. The people of La Grange are screwed over twice because of the Casino. The combined new Sewer charges to all the people of La Grange collectively each month is more than $10,000.00. The Casino will only pay a little more than $2,000.00. The rich get richer and the poor get screwed. Wasn't voting for a Gambling Boat on the river a great thing. Many thanks has to go to Jenny Murphy and Dean Phillips. Without them, we wouldn't have the privilege of pay $26,000 over the next 30 years for this sewer plant for the casino. And we wouldn't have the privilege of 8 cops chasing you and your friends and family around.
Where is the Public Works Foreman? Does he think that mowing one place and not another is good enough? If so, then other people ought to be able to mow a spot and comply with the City law. But, what about the city streets? Can't someone in charge get one of the lazy ones to mow from the foundry out to the Wyaconda bridge and back? What about Poage? 4th Street? 7th Street? What about Route C, now that the City limits has moved out? Why does the river front require a daily cleanup and mowing and the rest of the town go to crap? Who is the dummy in charge?
June 26, 2006

And here is another City funny. I was walking north from the Casino past a Council Woman's house. She was outside with her little white dog. She was watching her pooch poop on the ground. If you would scroll down to June 15th., you will see where I posted an excerpt from the NEW SEWER Ordinance in which on of the clauses was that it is UNLAWFUL to place, deposit or permit to be deposited on any public or private property (anywhere) within the City limits of La Grange any human OR ANIMAL EXCREMENT. You will be fined $100.00 a day.
Now, you know me, I had to ask how she got to break the law and she said that she never saw that Ordinance. Well, SHE VOTED ON IT. (BLOND) You mean to tell me that she didn't READ the Ordinance before she voted on it?? DUH, how DUMB is that? But, what the hell, the Mayor puts her doggie out to poop around her house ON THE GROUND and lets her cat climb on neighbors cars and trucks. I guess if you are willing to allow the city crew to trespass on private property and dig holes and pile dirt on it, violating a poop Ordinance is nothing.
Tonight, I get a call from a person wanting to know if someone can keep 5 hogs in town. Across the street from a cop no less. Now, that Ordinance has been on the books since 1938. But, the fine for having hogs in town is one tenth the cost of allowing your dog poop on the ground.
This is looking like the most corrupt City Council ever.
June 22, 2006
It never gets any better than this. Front page of the Press News Journal there is a picture of a City Backhoe digging around some concrete foundations and the City "officials" said that the purpose of the foundations wasn't immediately known.
TWO THINGS. First, because the Mayor hasn't a clue about La Grange and never will and none of the others don't know the history of La Grange, the don't know that these were there to support the water tower that filled the old steam engines with water.
THE NEXT thing is that the City employees are digging up these foundations on PRIVATE RAILROAD PROPERTY they have no business digging on.
How stupid is that?
June 20, 2006
Linda made a mad dash to the vet Monday and got the dogs their shots before she was arrested. As soon as she got home safely, I faxed the vet papers to the City Hall. Tuesday, she got another letter from city hall with a new date. Instead of May 15, 2005, this new one came after we sent the vet papers to the city with a new date of June 19, 2006. So, now she has thirty days to do what she has already done. She wanted me to thank everyone who volunteered to go her bail and to hire an attorney.
June 19, 2006
Let me ask you??? If you were the Mayor of a town and you had an employee spend money without your approval what would you do? What if you had an employee that you were paying thousands of dollars to manage and the employee didn't do his job and it cost the City thousands. What would you do? What if you hired and attorney and he didn't do his job and it cost the city thousands of dollars? What would you do? This Mayor has no idea what to do, so she leaves town.

Jerry - scanner man here
Here is a question. How many people can drive one car at a time? Did you say one? Then why does the LAPD COPS call in the drivers license of everyone in a car for "equipment violation"?
Another question. How can you speed through La Grange by a LAPD COP on the side of the road and not get a speeding ticket? Did you say it can't be done? WRONG! I watched a tractor trailer go by the foundry at better than 50 mph and the cop on the parking lot waved at him. I wondered why you never see a big rig stopped at any time or in the police reports. They never get stopped for anything.
307.178. 1. As used in this section, the term "passenger car" means every motor vehicle designed for carrying ten persons or less and used for the transportation of persons; except that, the term "passenger car" shall not include motorcycles, motorized bicycles, motor tricycles and trucks with a licensed gross weight of twelve thousand pounds or more.

The La Grange school reunion was yesterday. Those who went had a great time. Those who didn't missed a lot of old friends and classmates. I took some pictures but I know I didn't get everyone. We were all hoping that he would do it again.
Today is father's and the Lions Club had a great breakfast. The LAPD wants to thanks the La Grange Lions Club for all the new targets. They were out at 6am prowling and stopping anyone dumb enough to try to drive through La Grange.
Rumor has it that a COP may be on the way out the door and maybe an Administrator. Did you get the newsletter? Can you believe all the spelling and grammar mistakes?
Another rumor is that a Council woman in the middle ward was stopped by a cop and supposedly with no insurance and seat-belted kids. Now there is a move to remove the chief.
The newsletter talks about city employees going on buying sprees without council permission. This is what happens when you elect a mayor who doesn't have a clue on how to run a city. As long as hubby gets all he wants, nothing else matters.

MAYOR THERESA GUNSAULS SCREWS THE PEOPLE OF LA GRANGE AGAIN!
The Canton Press news Journal had a printing problem and the paper was a little late. Still delivered better than the Quincy paper. It bode bad news for the people of La Grange again. The Mayor and City Council voted a new sewer ordinance.
KILL YOUR DOGS - CATS AND ANY OTHER OUTDOOR ANIMAL NOW.
The first thing this new law says that it is UNLAWFUL to place, deposit or permit to be deposited on any public or private property (anywhere) within the City limits of La Grange any human OR ANIMAL EXCREMENT. You will be fined $100.00 a day. Kill your animals or get fined a $100 a day.
And to screw over the people who will be near the new proposed sewer line on the South end of town, MAYOR THERESA GUNSAULS has made it a law that YOU WILL HOOK UP TO THE NEW SEWER AND PAY AND PAY AND PAY or you will be FINED AND FINED AND FINED. And you will have only 90 Days to hook up or be fined and fined and fined for each day you do not hook up to the city sewer.
Every one shall bow and give thanks to the CASINO for all the costs you are incurring and or will incur.
Screw us once - screw us twice - screw us again and again, it's going to be a long long time.

Pictures around town

City piling dirt for new sewer plant, notice you will never see the river again.

City spreading dirt on side of road for NEW Antique lighting so you can see to walk to the casino.

The design of the mineral well let the water splatter all over
the walk area, so this is the new fix.
A plumbers nightmare

This is what the new river bank improvements looks like for the boat races.

Ed Ensor gets to keep his weeds, you have to cut yours. The old concrete is the pretty part.

Jerry - Scannerman here
I have been waiting to see what you had to say about the LAPD over Memorial day weekend. You haven't said anything, so I will tell you that the LAPD wants to thank all those people coming to La Grange to put flowers on their loved ones. Without all those traveling in La Grange, we wouldn't have no one to stop, harass or arrest.
Even this morning a cop jock was stopping people at 5 am going to work. Your Mayor has got to be so proud of her protectors.
May 30, 2006
People were talking around about the baseball games held this weekend. There were complaints of the refreshment stand not being open and that there was no water to the toilets. Talk about a shitty mess?
Several were questioning about who was in charge and when they found out that Ken Schuetz, President of the Chamber sold out the ball park to the City for $1,000.00, they were pissed. But, when they found that Mayor Theresa Gunsauls and Rita Farr-Cox promised to spend $20,000.00 on the ball park and then seeing this mess, they were really pissed off.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND TO ALL
You may to really celebrate this one. After 30 million illegal aliens move in, you will be celebrating VIVA MEXICO!. Thanks to Dick Durbin and Obama of Illinois.
Now to to local news. I was going through the Quincy paper and on page 5C I saw a guy I new and went to school with. This picture showed this good looking, handsome, young looking guy in a picture with what I thought was his mother. OH, then I read the article and it was his wife. I hadn't seen her for a long time and didn't even recognize her. It looks like they will be celebrating 40 years on June 4th. Who would have thought he could put up with that one woman all these years. Well, everyone should wish them another happy 40 years together.

The City of La Grange the appreciation day this weekend. Rumor has it that a lot of people were pissed off when they got their water bills Friday and Saturday and got the shock of their life. One person said the City Council and Mayor should have had a booth and all of them set in it to talk to the people about why they needed to pay now for something they don't have. I talked to several people about all the activities and almost all said it was a dud. Some said that they should have left it to Peggy Miles and others said that Tim Rossiter did it better.

Does anyone know about the Appreciation Days coming up. Didn't you see all the promos on the news and in the Quincy paper? By the way, when is it?

Not much going on around town this week. City crew working on waterline at the Foundry. Oh, speaking of the foundry, I wonder if all the employees who worked at the foundry know that certain guys from the Canton area working there can have access to all their private records. You know, the employment records from when they applied for a job to work there. Names, addresses, SS numbers, medical records, work history and such. One has to wonder who is looking at all those files.
My database about police abuse is growing pretty well. There is a lot of stuff I am being told, you wouldn't believe.
The City contracted to put in a new sewer line out Route C. Just to give you a little more stupidity on the Mayor and City Administrators part. The City sold the property they bought for an industrial park to the Lewis County Industrial Development. And guess what? They run the new sewer line so it is about 500 feet short of the Industrial park property. Makes a person wondering who is running the asylum.
They did get the new lift station in and now they have two lift stations within a 100 feet of each other. ????
May 11, 2006
There was a Council meeting Monday night and Mayor Theresa Gunsauls and Steve Griesbaum and Elaine White and Ronnie Lewis voted to SCREW YOU. Ronnie Powers and Rita Cox and Tim Rossiter voted to give you a tax break. BUT the MAYOR, THERESA GUNSAULS broke the tie and VOTED TO SCREW YOU.
SCREW the people of La Grange. There has to be a lot of voters that can feel the shaft twisting in them for voting for her.
And then MIKE LOWE who lost the election and BERT COTTRELL attended the Council meeting to try to get the Mayor and Council to look into ZONING. It is ok for me but not for you. Bert seems to forget or thinks it is ok to have a commercial business in his garage. OH, maybe they want another kind of zoning that won't take this into consideration. Maybe his neighbor won't like his hayfield zoned commercial and taxed higher? Better these guys think more about friends and relatives than think about themselves.

There was an article in the Quincy Herald Whig written by Ann Piercall about the sewer plant and water well. I read the article and Ann bent over backwards to make Mayor Theresa look good. Here is my email back to her.
You are pretty good at showing the City in a good light. Never
a negative. Are you and Theresa buds???
Let's take the sewer project.
Look up the Council meeting where the Mayor and Council "promised",
there would 'No" increase in the water or sewer rates "until" the
plant was in operation.
Now, see that the new rates took effect this month and you didn't mention
anything about the new sewer plant being already built. So, the people will be
paying for something they are not getting. Not a word about that. You don't want
to make her look bad do you??
Then you let the City Administrator, Mark Campbell, get away with insinuating
that the $1.2 would come out of casino money.
Not one word from you that I and every other home owner in La Grange will be
paying over $26,000 EACH over the next 30 years for this new sewer plant for the
casino.
The State DNR was ready to fine the city thousands of dollars EACH DAY, the
sewer plant was not being brought to a vote.
NOW, they want 180 days before a construction permit can be issued.
I find it ironic that when I was Mayor in 1983, I ordered a new well to be
drilled "with no grant money", "NO casino money" and at a
cost of only $12,000.00 and it is doing fine.
BUT, the DNR and State Granted money and site selection of the next well is now
contaminated.
The Quincy Herald Whig still continues to slant the news. No such thing as
"Fair & Balanced". That is why we all need to watch FOX NEWS.
Another thing. I noticed that the City went to poor old Barbara Wiley's property and mowed her property. It was easy for Mayor Theresa to screw over an old woman who must be over 100 now and charge $60.00 an hour to cut the weeds.
BUT, Mayor Theresa, will not do that to the MULTI- MILLIONAIRE that owns the Foundry property.
MAYOR THERESA wants a new LAW to make more people in town criminals for having a car on their own private property that the police deem junk.
BUT, MAYOR THERESA will not force the MULTI- MILLIONAIRE that owns the Foundry property to clean up the foundry mess. When I was in charge of taking care of the foundry for the old owner, I made sure the place was neat and the weeds and grass cut quickly. Now, that the LAPD is in charge of the foundry for the Multi-millionaire, the place is a sore sight for anyone's eyes.
Thank you Mayor Thereas for your bigotry.

A little after 8pm tonight
Another accident at the casino. Someone pulled out in front of another. There were cars backed up to the highway waiting to get to the casino. Instead of a La Grange cop standing around in the way, one could have gone down to the overpass and redirected traffic around the other way. But, we all know that would a smart thing to do.
A woman went boating one Sunday taking with
her some cans of coke which she put into the refrigerator of the boat.
On Monday she was taken to the hospital and placed in the Intensive
Care Unit. She died on Wednesday. The autopsy concluded she died of
Leptospirosis. This was traced to the can of coke she drank from, not using a
glass.
Tests showed that the can was infected
by dried rat urine and hence the disease Leptospirosis. Rat urine contains toxic
and deathly substances. It is highly recommended to thoroughly wash cans before
drinking out of them.
The cans are typically stocked in warehouses and transported straight to the
shops without being cleaned. A study at NYCU showed that the tops of soda cans
are more contaminated than public toilets (i.e.) full of germs and bacteria. So
wash them with water before putting them to the mouth to avoid any kind of fatal
accident.
The United Nations is planning a vote to Tax U. S. Citizens.
The Democrats are planning a vote to take over the Internet and tax it.
It seems like from the Mayor and City Council on up to the United Nations that all they want is to take YOUR MONEY.
May 4, 2006
I got an email the other day from a person who said, "Jerry, you seem to be down on La Grange all the time", why?
Well, I said, let me tell you why. For instance, the Quincy Herald Whig, Thursday May 4th page 11A.
Pittsfield Ill. Doesn't have a multimillion dollar per year income from a casino. YET, Pittsfield Ill City Officials see the value in having businesses in their town. The City is "GIVING" two businesses rebates on their utilities for 5 years. One of the businesses was a laundry.
La Grange Mo. Helped the local laundry out of town by TRIPLING THE WATER AND SEWER rates to put the laundry out of business.
Want another?? How about this.
Lebanon Missouri. The City Officials "BORROWED" $100,000.00. (That is two weeks income from the casino) and went out and bought a small manufacturing business and moved it to town.
La Grange, Mo. Harassed the old owner of the foundry by calling EPA and DNR on him until he sold it and the new owner couldn't get the City or the County to help with the taxes and he scrapped it and now it is a mess.
Want another?? How about this.
Ft. Madison Ia. (Contractor Magazine) The new casino being built near here will spend $10 MILLION dollars to put a new state of the art, Water treatment plant and sewer plant. The CASINO is PAYING??
La Grange Mo. Mayor Theresa and City Council voted to make the people of La Grange pay over the next 30 years $26,000 each for a new sewer plant for the casino. And start making them pay for a sewer plant that isn't even got one shovel full of dirt moved.
Another?? Ken Schuetz, President of the La Grange Chamber of Commerce turned over the yearly fund raiser of the 4th of July Chicken bar b que to the La Grange fire Department.
Another?? Ken Schuetz, President of the La Grange Chamber of Commerce sold out the ball park association by selling the Chamber of Commerce ball park property to the city for a measly $1,000.
The Mayor and City Council promised to spend $20,000 on fixing the ball park up and now - nothing.
Another?? Ken Schuetz, President of the La Grange Betterment Committee two years ago received $50,000 for funding projects with local not-for-profit groups and businesses and he still has over $45,000 stuck in Dean's bank. The Scouts are still in an old dilapidated building and are always out raising money. He refuses to allow any money to pay for informational signs on the highway to bring traffic to town for the few remaining businesses.
The Mayor Theresa Gunsauls and the City Council want to use the Casino money for projects that make themselves look good in their own minds and the people of La Grange Pay and Pay and Pay and Pay.
And of course the LAPD has done the best they could to drive people and businesses out of town too.
So, tell me, How can anyone be upbeat on a City that has a Mayor and City Council that continues to punish the people of the town? Every Council Meeting Theresa and the Council pass more laws to make more people criminals so the cops have more reasons to arrest someone.
May 1, 2006
Say a prayer for Kent Spindler.
Rumor has it that Mayor Theresa Gunsauls is getting ready to pass another Ordinance (LAW) to make more people who are not now criminals, CRIMINALS. So be prepared to have a cop serve you papers soon.
The City sold the 19 acres they paid more than what it was worth to the Lewis County Industrial Authority. The property needs sewer to make it viable. Rumor has the City Administrator who hasn't gotten a decent grant yet, will apply for a new grant for the sewer line. Yeah right!
A few years ago, right after the City bought the property where the fire station and City shed are, they were digging a big hole. I stopped and asked why they were digging a big hole and was told that they were putting in a lift station. I asked why were they doing it ON TOP OF THE HILL. They said you dummy, they needed it to pump the sewerage over to the Baptist church.
I asked why they didn't put it at the bottom of the hill so they could service out Route C??
You dummy, they would have to run a sewer line down the hill and then pump it back up. All the smartest people on earth work for this city.
NOW, when you go out Route C, you will see smartest people on earth, putting a lift station at the bottom of the hill. he he he he he he he he
Now, you can pay to run TWO lift stations instead of one.
JERRY,I LIVE NEAR DENTON,NEBRASKA,WHICH IS A SMALL TOWN
(350 POPULATION) THE ONLY BUSINESS IS A SMALL BAR THAT RUNS A KENO GAME. IN SEVEN YEARS THE INCOME FROM THE KENO GAME HAS BUILT A NEW WATER TOWER, PAVED ALL THE STREETS (NOT ASPHALT, CONCRETE)
ALL NEW SIDE WALKS, A RECREATION CENTER, TENNIS COURTS BASKET BALL COURT, HUGE PLAY GROUND. WATER AND SEWER IS FREE.
FOR TWO YEARS ALL PROPERTY TAXES WERE PAID BY THE CITY, THEY HAD TO QUIT THIS, BECAUSE SOME OF THE PEOPLES TAXES WERE HIGHER THEN OTHERS AND THEY WANTED THE TOWN TO GIVE THEM THE DIFFERENCE, SO THE CITY CUT THEM ALL OFF ( STUPID PEOPLE, DON'T KNOW WHEN TO KEEP THEIR MOUTHS SHUT )AT THE MONTHLY TOWN MEETINGS ANY ONE CAN MAKE SUGGESTIONS FOR ANY IMPROVEMENTS.
THE TOWN HAS ALMOST TWO MILLION DOLLARS IN BONDS AND BANKS.
