The La Grange Christian Church will be hosting meetings for Addicts Victorious, a
support group of "people helping people overcome their problems, fears, and addictions."
Rev. Jerry Jenkins (Executive Director of AV) introduced the congregation to the program
that they would be hosting every Friday at 7 pm beginning November 14th. He began with a
sample of what the program is like during Sunday school, and later preached on the need for
a personal relationship with Jesus Christ who can deliver anyone from his or her problems,
fears, and/or addictions. The La Grange Christian Church is happy to have Glenn and Paula
Maples lead the Addicts Victorious meetings that will be held on Friday nights at the church
(located on Rt. C, ¾ of a mile East of Hwy. 61). Those interested in attending the program
can simply show up, or for more information may contact the La Grange Christian Church at
655-4571 or Addicts Victorious at 1-800-323-1388.

As you can see by the picture above that on Dec. 02, 2003 at 8:30am, the contractor's crew are taking furniture, boxes of personal items, antiques, tools, and other equipment to haul off. A person next to me said that the contractor got to keep all the Stambaugh's personal items and all the lumber, bricks, and any other item he finds in the building. You can clearly see that the electricity is still hooked up and the security fence has been taken down by the contractor and the owner said that the building and contents are still insured.
I don't know, but if I were Mayor, I would not ever let this happen without a judge issuing a decree or something. But?
On another note, I can not understand why the City is fighting tooth and nail to keep a terminated employee from getting unemployment. Rumor has it that the City Administrator has been giving different stories to the State Unemployment people in an all out effort to stop a terminated employee from getting unemployment. It looks to me like it is a get even, vendetta against the past employee. What difference does it make to the City? Who cares whether an employee gets unemployment or not? Why the vicious attack on the past employee?
This City Council has to be the most vicious council the people of La Grange has ever elected.
December 1, 2003
Rumor has it that this is a huge argument. The gods of the City without any hearings or notice, decided the building on the left owned by Ed Stambaugh and his wife needed to be demolished. Kind of like what the gods want to do to everyone else's homes but their own, including the old City hall. But, as you can see in the picture there is the Police Chief, Police Lieutenant, City Administrator, Terry Feldkamp, (who go the contract to tear down the building) and Mrs. Stambaugh. There seemed to be a problem with legal notification and such and even though it looked like someone was going to jail, they all walked away.
Rumor has it that if the Mayor doesn't interfere, the fight will continue tomorrow morning at 8am when the contractor will be back to do his work. So if you don't have anything to do and want to watch a fight, be there.
There seems to be some kind of clarification as to what a person has to do to avoid the City deciding to tear your home down. It seems ridiculous that a City Council of gods can't just decided your home is dangerous and unsafe and order it torn down without some kind of recommendation or guideline as to what needs to be done to appease the gods. But, without anything being placed in the Ordinance that allows for some kind of rule, the gods, "so far" have gotten their way. Mostly, because they have been picking on the sick and elderly that have no means to hire legal Counsel.
I can remember Judge Westhoff telling Isabel Reaves when they condemned her dead husbands property she didn't own, that the City didn't need an attorney as the case wasn't a criminal case that is a jailable offense and promptly ordered her to jail.

The La Grange LAPD is on the job to harass and arrest you and anyone else dumb enough to drive through La Grange. Last week they pulled their own click-it or ticket on unsuspecting travelers on La Grange's streets. My, how the Chief is so proud of his indians. The other night an officer made stop after stop after stop all night long and then on Saturday and Sunday mornings before 7 am, a radar trap was set up on the North end of town to catch workers going to work and people going to Sunday school. It never quits and the "gods" on the Council can't see through the smoke as to the damage to the casino they are letting happen.
The City will be posting the date for the signup of 3 "hopefully" new council people. Let's all hope that some one new with the guts to put a stop to the continuous police harassment of the people of La Grange and others who take the ultimate challenge to try to drive through La Grange without getting stopped.
There were rumors flying around town that the Council was trying to run out of office another Mayor. It seems that the Council and the City attorney cannot read and understand the "CITY CHARTER". They cannot understand that they "the Council" cannot say or vote away the powers of the Mayor. Even the City attorney is having a problem understanding political law. But, I found that the rumors that the Mayor was resigning were false. Much to the disappointment of a couple of council people.
It used to be that when the Mayor made day to day decisions about employees, the council would back the decisions of the Mayor. But, just like or school system, the council fights the Mayor like the parents of an unruly child fights the teachers.
Rumor has it that another business wanting to come to La Grange has been pushed away by the City Council. They do not want any new business to come to La Grange unless there is something in it for them.
Rumors about Council actions and employees continue to stream out of the tavern on a daily basis. The gossip page has been having a tough time keeping up with the tavern gossip.
Jerry,
I heard yesterday that the rumor about the casino being up for sale is
no longer a rumor. If it was listed on the sites where other owners of
casinos could see, I guess no one wanted it. I will not say a thing
about, "I told them so," but your city could be in deep trouble. Let's
not hear anything about how they won't do this or that. How long, and
what does it take for La Grange to realize what is happening and wake
up. I think the city is all going to suffer like some of the people
suffered when they felt that they had to sell their property back when
preparing for the casino. You know as well as I do that it caused a
hardship on some, to leave their homes. By the way, when speaking about
people acting like gods, please use the small case of letters. We have
God our heavenly Father, then we have those that like to play gods.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
November 28, 2003
The biggest shopping day of the year. Dottie Tonnnies by getting up at 3am will be the first shopper. Here is hoping everyone had a great Thanksgiving dinner. I attended a meeting a City hall last Tuesday evening regarding new road improvements in town. The city plans to widen these roads as much as they can and put in curbing. The City will redo 5th street from Route C to North of the City park. It looks like additional parking will be put on the park side of the road. The City also will redo 4th street from Route C to Jefferson. This is the rock hill. Also slated for widening and curbing is Jefferson from 5th to 3rd. This is along the Youth Center building, the Methodist Church and the Green Chapel church. Then the city will do the same to 3rd street from the Green Chapel Church North to Alice Fish's house. If it cost over $80,000.00 to go from Main street to the mineral well, can you guess the cost of these improvements? Can you guess how much Klingners, the engineers made on this one project?
Politics and elections. Soon the City will post when you can sign up for city councilman in each of the wards. It has been interesting since the last mayor's election as to the responses I have heard over the past few months. One voter who even said he didn't vote was complaining about the City, yet since he didn't vote, I said he had no complaint. I have had some people tell me that they voted for me or voted for Tim or for Harold, only to find out that they didn't even vote. How do I know they didn't vote? Simple, just ask the County for the voting records for La Grange. Public information, available to anyone. It was very interesting to know about people who profess to be great public servants, actually don't vote.

THE GODS HAVE SPOKEN
The Six self proclaimed GODS of the City Council have spoken. The demand complete unfettered control over their whole domain of the people of La Grange. Since being elected by the people of La Grange to "represent" their wards, they have decided amongst themselves that they are now the GODS. No other person in the City is as smart and intelligent as the six GODS.
At Monday nights council meeting, it was again brought up about the ball park. The Chamber and the Ball Park Association has in the past kicked around the city for financial help. Since the GODS have "ethics", they can't just give the money to the Chamber or Ball Park association, they talked about leasing the Ball Park. With leasing the property from the Chamber, the City can then spend what ever it wants on improvements. This is an excellent way around the "ethics" of the GODS. BUT, as usual, the GODS want COMPLETE CONTROL FOREVER. It then became from a simple way to get money spent on the property, to complete control with a multi-year lease with renewals and everything. If the GODS are going to share the money then the GODS want control.
Then the GODS esteemed legal advisor stepped in with another way the GODS could have COMPLETE CONTROL. Purchase the property from the Chamber, but put in deed restrictions that the property cannot be used for anything but a recreational area.
YEAH, lets see now. The Oyster family deeded property to the city to be used and named as OYSTER PARK. And, what did the City Council do??? They sold it for a pittance to the CASINO. Who, instantly kicked the kids of the property and stopped the soccer playing on it. My, isn't the CASINO a good citizen?
If these council people would just pretend for a meeting that they were not the GODS they think they are, they could quick and easily enter into a lease for a year from the Chamber, spend the money that needs to be spent to improve the property and let the lease lapse. And, if the Chamber and Ball Park Association need more improvements or some didn't get done the first year, the City and Chamber could renew the lease for another year. But, once the needed improvements are done, then the lease expires. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO NEED for the City to be involved any more than that, nor a lease any longer than needed to get the improvements done. Let's wait and see if the GODS return to being citizens of La Grange for the people and children of La Grange or continue to be self proclaimed GODS.
In other business, the Council heard bids that were already opened before the Council meeting for electrical work on the new police station. Remember the first $64,000 was just for the shell of the building. The bids were from a high of $20,600 down to $9,900. The voted to take the $9,000 bid. Then they heard of bids on the Heat and Air. $11,000 and $9,800.00 but they took the $11,250 bid this time.
The Council then heard already opened bids on tearing down the Stambaugh house. The City had previously condemned that building too. Soon, it will be your home. The bids ranged from $13,910 down to $4,350.00. Then the Council was informed that they didn't tell the bidders they needed to pay prevailing wages. So they then voted to inform the bidders of the wage problem.
Then, as usual at EVERY council meeting, they went into closed session. They have their round table meeting before a council meeting to discuss what they are going to talk about in the real council meeting and then they have their secret closed session at the end of every council meeting.
The Missouri State Law clearly states that their are rules and regulations on what can be talked about in closed session. THEIR IS NO LAW that says anything HAS to be talked about in closed session. A good honest MAYOR and Council would not ever go into closed session. But?
November 22, 2003
Not a whole lot has been going on around town these past few days. The City has been busy working on streets. The LAPD pulled a surprise road block under the guise of click it or ticket safety check. They now have more income for the city. The $80,000.00 road to the mineral well is coming along nicely. The new shelter house that the city had to pay to get painted as it came in unpainted is now up. Well, it will at least stop the rain water from making puddles all over the concrete. This will allow "someone" to be able to pull off the road onto the new $80,000 street and stop and sit under the $10,000 shelter house to look at the $5,000 mineral well make over.
The old foundry has a big for sale sign at the front door. The old liquor store sale price went UP to over $30,000.00. Like some nut will come along and pay that much.
Did you see the Quincy paper the other day? An organization held a fund raiser at the Casino and I am sure you can guess what happened then.
YEP!, ole Billy Bob Thursby got his picture taken for another $500.00. It looks like he was taking credit for the $500 donation the organization made. Some people have no pride or shame.
Have you looked at the Casino's ads in the paper? They use those filled in fonts that looks good on a computer screen but sucks on news print. They are so hard to read. But, Billy Bob made the effort. He must of went to one of those schools that graded on a curve in Rio Linda.
November 19, 2003
It seems that last Monday evening there was a special CLOSED SESSION, Council meeting. It has always been that what was discussed about an employee at a closed session was supposed to stay closed and not discussed. But, who cares about privacy and ethics with this City Council.
Fifteen minutes after a closed Council meeting, you can go to the bar and here about it word for word. Anything you want to know about what goes on in a closed meeting, just go to the bar when the Councilwoman is working.
Rumor has it that the City Council screwed over the new mayor big time. But, since I haven't been to the bar, I can't say this for sure. I don't know, maybe I read the City Charter different than this bunch of councilmen, but it seems to me that this City Council is overstepping the authority of the Mayor. If I were the Mayor, I would test their metal real quick on this matter. I can see where the City Attorney being "hired" rather than elected as it should be, would want to side with the council or look for another job. Just a small case of money over ethics again. It is funny how things are viewed when someone is worried about getting paid or not to make a decision. But, if my own personal experience with a past City attorney is any indication, it seems to be inherited to attorneys.
November 16, 2003
Yesterday was a caring day for La Grange. There were many, many people out in force for the Chuckie Dade family and the Jarvis family. There were a lot of people that went to both places.
It is sad to report that Jeanette Brown passed away yesterday. Davis funeral home is selected.
For awhile this morning the City of La Grange was left totally unprotected by the LAPD. There wasn't a radar trap anywhere. WHY? well the LAPD was playing big cop like a Missouri highway patrolman and was on duty at 61 and route V chasing a couple of cows. Robert Richter was on hand to help decide what kind of cows they were and who they belonged to.
6:30 am, the LAPD was guarding the old Imperial Gas Station again.
November 14, 2003
Rumor has it that Russell Heindselman enjoyed a visit with the Quincy Police Friday evening.
The City bought a new honey wagon and is it a honey. It is something that has been needed for a very long time. This BIGFOOT truck can haul a lot of s----. CLICK HERE
The Public Works - working foreman has decided that if any street in town will be done, it will be doing his street for the second time this year. The rest of us will have to wait and wait. CLICK HERE

There are so many people in the La Grange area that are ill, it is beginning to be a long list. There is a benefit for the Chuckie Dade family and also one for the Jack Jarvis family. See above
In response to a couple of emails regarding things around town, I took a couple of pictures today. The first picture of your tax dollars at work showing all the new evergreen trees the City planted for Paul Tasco. CLICK HERE
The second picture is of the new $80,000.00 street the city is building so you can get to the mineral well. This picture also show the latest new shelter house for someone. CLICK HERE We now have one at the ball diamond. One a the City park. THREE on Triangles beach. And no one near the mineral well. Rumor has it that Sam Henderson is so proud of his work as Parks and Cemetery chairman, that he has now decided that we need a shelter house in all three cemeteries for mourners and visitors.
November 12, 2003
Things are going along swimmingly around town. The City did an excellent job of landscaping Paul Tasco's property for him. Rumor has it that Paul was at Wal-Mart the other day buying Christmas decorations for all those Christmas Trees.
Work is getting done on Bates street in front of Mrs Wileys place. They did make a place for a driveway into the property. It looks to me like this idea of putting in curbing is a very good idea. Especially on streets that are on hills.
The health of a lot of people around town is too good. The Prayer list is a long one today. Neighbor Bob Farr has been in the hospital twice in the past two weeks.
November 10, 2003
Don Sherwood, notified me with a flyer that he and his wife will be hosting a Christmas shopping place for little kids. They will have many gift items that people and businesses have and WILL donate so the children will be able to get mom or dad or sister or brother a real nice gift for a small price using their own money. This is meant to allow the children to learn how to be responsible with their money and also be able to be a part of Christmas giving.
With more and more screwballs trying to take Christ out of Christmas and out of our Cities and schools, this is one way to help keep a part of Christmas still going. If you have any unused real nice gift you could donate, contact Don at his store. I understand the money generated will be donated to other disadvantaged children gifts and support. Even if you don't live in La Grange, your help will be appreciated.
November 06, 2003
I stopped by 4th and bates again and saw that the city is putting in a driveway access the Mrs. Wiley's property. The new curbing is looking better than I expected. But, it looks like the new mayor will have to spring for some good black dirt on his side to bring the property up blend in right.
I am told that Chuckie Dade and his son Marty are needing a lot of medical services and the Green Chapel Church and others are holding a benefit for them. If you can't make it to help out, maybe you could send something to the Green Chapel Church to help.
I have found out that you do not want to go into "Grandma's Cupboard" and find Penny talking on the phone and make a remark about thinking you made a mistake and thought you were in the Post Office. So, you hereby warned not make any references to that matter in there.
Neighbor Robert Farr has spent some time in the hospital these last few days. Rumor has it that he still plans to go bowling as soon as he gets out. One more year of bowling and he will hit the 50 year mark.
November 04, 2003
I stopped by Bates street from 3rd to 4th street in front of Mrs. Wiley's house. The new working foreman and maybe new city administrator, was there. The crew was putting in curbing to eliminate the ditches on the street. From what I could see, they were doing a very good job, but I didn't see any access to Mrs. Wiley's drive. Anyhow, the new working foreman tried to explain to me how and why the City thought they had the right to turn water onto a citizens property. He did say that there was a street down the hill that the city owned, but the water had to travel over two or three separate property owners to get there. I wonder if the secretary of the Lewis County Prosecuting Attorney knows what is happening to her property??
If the City can barricade a property so you cannot enjoy the full and peaceful use of a property and now turn water off the city street and drain it on your property, and even go on a property and dig the ditch, will they also do it to you? It looks like we are going from the Gestapo tactics of the LAPD to the Gestapo tactics of the City Council.
Good news in the offing from the City, it looks like a deal may be made for an industrial park.
November 03, 2003
The LAPD doesn't have a chance. Two people this weekend told me they saw the LAPD in two cars leaving Quincy the other day. One was the brand new car and the other was, I suppose the one to take the other officer over to pick up the new car.
These two cars were followed through West Quincy at speeds over 70 MPH. They were then followed at speeds up to and one person said they ran up to 100 mph and couldn't catch up to them. They even came into town at speeds over 50 mph to 60 mph.
The one person said that the LAPD are just a big a criminal as those they stop or even worse.
Brand new car was broke in at over 100 mph. Do they still have their jobs after abusing the people of La Granges assets?
La Grange's big day
Last evening the harvest fest put on by the Youth Center and La Grange Churches seemed to be a huge success. Above, you can click on Harvest fest and see over 30 pictures f the kids in costumes and all the people that were there. it kind of reminded some of us of the old carnivals we had at the old La Grange School.
Today, the Governor of Missouri came to La Grange, along with Kit Bond, Kenny Husholf, John Cauthorn, Sam, and many other dignitaries from the State, from Iowa, Canton and La Grange. I noticed that there weren't any dignitaries from Monticello though.
Small speeches were made by all those pictured on the "Governor" click here above. Mayor Tim Rossiter was one who gave a speech and unlike the others, he did not read his off a prepared note. I was impressed with what he said and how well he did. Contrary to the picking at him on this page, I still believe he has his heart in doing his best for La Grange.
This has been one Grand weekend for the people of La Grange.
Want to hear some picking? The Casino's cheap donuts sucked. Nobody wanted to eat them. Not one of the dignitaries even mentioned the Casino and never saw it. And, once all the hoopla was over, the LAPD went back to stopping people.
Average 5 stops per day (minimum) 30 days, 12 months, comes to a minimum of 1800 per. If they piss of 20% of the casino goers and they never come back, how long will it take the LAPD to close the Casino? What if the pissed off people tell 2 other people? The casino averages about 50 to 80 cars a day. Many of those are the same people coming back. Yet, no one cares.
"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and sup with him, and he with me." --Revelation 3:20
In La Grange, if the Police knock on your door, don't open it.
